With the introduction of Flux I need to repeat a previous question.
Is it possible to set the following?
Charge to 100% 0200-0500
Discharge to 15% 1600-1900
I have it working perfectly by setting:
Charge Mode - Solar + Grid
Start Time - 02:00
End Time - 05:00
Charge Up To - 100%
Charge Power - 2600 W
and then using the manual Quick Settings to discharge from 4pm to 7pm (setting an alarm on my phone)
I was told setting this up on the Discharge section, to program discharge, would not work. Is this still the case or has it been sorted?
I'm trying to get Home Assistant working , but would prefer the app or dashboard solution! It should be very simple!

I've set Eco on the GE Dashboard
and on the R&D app
Charge 2am - 5am to 100%
Discharge be 4pm - 7pm to 15%
This should be ok. Let's hope it works. May need to change the 15% but it is only there as a safety check. If everything works I'll only manage to get it down to 20% in the 3 hours with no solar. Yesterday at 4pm I was only managing to send 400W from the battery as the solar panels were exporting so much!
Everything went well until 7pm. It does discharging but then ran the house from the grid until I reset it at 7:45pm. Same as with the app settings, it doesn't go back to eco after discharging. Back to the manual method until GE come up with something that works.

After 19:00 battery discharge continues but output tails off as battery only supporting load rather than exporting.
What is house load at that time?
Do you still have charge in battery
Is house load at that time greater than inverter output, so it has to pull grid
Help!!!
At 7pm it stopped discharging.
At 7:45pm I checked and it was using the grid, no battery. Eco mode I assume is still off.
I reset on my dashboard and app and cancelled the settings in the R&D.
At 8:45pm I was surprised to see that the house was still running from the grid.
How do I stop this?

Use remote control from GE dashboard.
Scroll down and you can see what instructions have been sent

Steve it looks like you're force charging at day rate and then exporting at peak rate, did I read that right?

He's charging at the flux cheap rate (02:00-05:00), then again in the PM "day rate" (12:30-15:30) just before peak discharge (16:00-19:00).

pacemaker topping up if low before peak import I understand, force discharging at 36.2p after force charging at 33.7p though I don't and thats what it looked like. By the time the losses are taken into account its got to be net zero.
Maybe the rates are different enough to make it worthwhile. It's only a 2.5p delta here.

I doubt I will run this discharge nov-feb, just make sure I am charged before peak import rate

Back in the old days, wasn't there two rates, one for initial amount of units and another for over that amount?
Maybe they could do low rate (e.g. excluding the fixed / old SC costs), high rate (including SC), low rate (excluding SC).

SteveCook The only reason to charge pre 4pm is if you think you will be importing from the grid before 7pm. Different size batteries, discharge rates and usage are going to make everyone's set-up slightly different but for me I can't do a set and forget automation without some complicated "if" logic.

TX200 yep, before the gov. intervened to try and simplify things you used to have so many units at a higher price then a cheaper price - the higher price effectively covering the standing charge.

Ah ok, so what's actually happening is that its getting brimmed from a large array anyway and then you're discharging. You just happen to still have a forced charge cycle set? So on a dreary ass day you'd not have a full battery so it would force charge and then discharge it for no benefit but probably no noticeable monetary cost (assuming rates stay the same), but most of the time it won't have imported anyway due to the size of the array.
Have you got it set to discharge fully in that window or only down to say 30% to get you through the night?

TBH it was only last Tuesday that I found the overlapping schedule issue on R&D.
I am still playing and thinking about scheduling.
I also want to hold some charge for the EPS

Good Afternoon All,
Sorry if I am late to all this but we will moving over to flux from go from this weekend, we got our 5.8kw solar array and 9.5kw battery fitted in late February. Our current Go tariff finishes at end of March. I believe, as we work from home and have two electric vehicles we will be better off with Flux as we can gain from the better export rates when we can't consume everything we are generating.
Can someone please help with simple automation to make sure we can retain a full battery, filled from solar in the morning and then release say down to 40% at the peak rate leaving enough to run the house until repeating the next day. Excess once battery full to be used to charge car via Zappy charger.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

Octopus R&D labs has a scheduler.
You must register and it seems to take about 24hrs to go live and then another 24hrs or so for the tabs to go live on the portal page.

Rammie Note the Flux off peak period is only 3 hours which will limit what your EVs and battery can use. My battery charges at approx 2.5kW during the Flux off peak so I get a maximum 7.5kWh at cheap rates. EV charger is 7kW so can supply a theoretical max of 21kWh at cheap rate.

alan_johnston Thanks for your info Alan. Hopefully we are getting to the months where we won't need to use the import cheap rate since we are currently generating over 20kw from our array. Since we only need 11kw to run the house I am hoping that as the sun comes out for longer we will be able to generate enough to power the house leave the battery full and off load some it back to the grid during the peak times. Or maybe I am missing something. as I said we are very new to all of this and any help is greatly appreciated.

Rammie Hi - no, the Scheduler should appear in due course. It takes a few days to appear.
I've recently signed up for R&D, and am not yet on Flux, but now have a Scheduler.

TheDragon (GivEnergy) will you be able to schedule any other settings? For example I'd like to charge in the early hours then run on Eco but with 80% reserve during the day, export in peak then use the battery with 10% reserve through the evening.

Rammie I am importing to max my battery 2-5 at 20p/kWh and exporting during the day at 25p/kWh.
It’s a weird mind shift to realise that using your “free” solar from the panels is actually more expensive than using the overnight rate.

Not perfect but I've set charge Solar + Grid 02:00-16:00. Switches back to Eco at 16:00.
Battery charges to 100% by 04:30. Any spare power during the day goes to the grid as its worth more than what is in the battery. If the charge hasn't dropped much at 17:30 ish I set manual full power discharge and set an alarm so I switch back to Eco at 19:00.
Would be good to automate this if I can get my head round programming the APIs.
