So I've mentioned a few times before that I think something is in the works from Octopus in regards to a Givenergy and a home battery storage tariff (not Flux) similar to Intelligent.
Today I think we've edged just a bit nearer to that being confirmed (by Phil Steel at Octopus) so I'll keep an eye on the API and see what comes of it.
hoggy hmm, so as well as Octopus potentially being in control of your car charging they would be in control of your battery charging?
Be more interested in an eV tariff that allows a better export than 4p! (I know that 12p plus is unrealistic if we import at 10-12, but surely 8 is doable!)

I will pass. Not having a great time on intelligent beta as it is. Woken up several times to find the car has not charged with no information as to why.
Yes essentially they control it.
Obviously they will need to make it worthwhile so my guess is that this will replace the now gone Tesla Energy Plan.
Makes sense to use all the batteries they can to take the peak off the demand and fill them when it's blowy as all hell.
Needs to he the right deal of course.
THALL as long as the tariff doesn't punish minor downtime or local issues I'd be happy to see what comes along.
My uptime is pretty good but sometimes my ISP reboots the router and for some reason WiFi doesn't work until I switch it off and on again (classic IT fix).

LordHippos The main issue for me with Octopus Intelligent is they treat every charger as dump so solar charges wont work, plus the 5 - 15 minute charge period before their system kicks in and pauses it vs the current scheduled charge option. For maybe 90% of people I expect this is fine, but the rest with things like solar charging and some level of control over their system Intelligent is just too ridged. Needs a bit more flex.
My other fear would be they treat everyones battery like a powerwall and use it for grid balancing. The prices might be really great but again increased cycles affecting its life.

My inverter limits the rates anyway, so even if they were sat there charging and discharging all day long, it wouldn't add excessive wear. I doubt they would need to anyway, I expect it wouldn't be wildly different from how I'd use it.
Will have to see how the offerings compare including vs stuff like Flux where I get total control.
@THALL just FYI but you can toggle IO's control on and off with 1 click for days when your solar charging. You don't have to un-enroll & re-enroll anymore. It can be toggled via API if need be.
One would hope that they use this to interface between car & home so export doesn't get swallowed by the car and so on. Will be more of a headache for them for HW diverters!
All this however is just wild stabs, who knows what it will ultimately end up as...
hoggy Oh I have this off. They have contacted me a few times now asking to turn it on, and I have tried having it on several times and have reported all off the issues I have had. Like when I turn smart charge off to allow solar charging at the weekend turning it back on sunday night to charge it fails. To be honest it does work as long as you set it and forget it. But I want solar charging too and changing settings upsets the car. But it is Beta.
