BMS occasionally disconnecting, anyone else?

A couple of times a day I see the BMS crashing/disconnecting, which presents itself as:

  • Battery temperature in the app showing as 6,530 ºC, and -23 ºC in the portal
  • The More Information battery screen no longer updating
  • Big drops in SOC
  • Charge rate being limited to 1.4kW (this may be because the battery is actually nearly full).
  • Portal showing capacity as 6.4 not 9.5, and the battery as LEAD_ACID

Gen 1 Hybrid 5 and 9.5 battery + solar.

It recovers after a while without needing a restart or any settings changed, which makes me doubt it's the BMS connection to the inverter (which caught me out when first installed as it was disconnected and the above issue came up).

It is possible that it's related to higher levels of solar production, but equally, I may just be checking the app more when I know the sun is shining brighter.

Has anyone else seen this? @TheDragon (GivEnergy) any suggestions? Serial SD2221G454 if helpful.

Definitely haunted... call an exorcist?

This I'm afraid is all the hallmarks of your battery BMS cabling not being terminated correctly/loose.
Depends how comfortable you are with doing so, but most of the time it's the plug end on the inverter getting dislodged when they are putting the gland cover back on. That or someone has caught the cable tidying it up.

Thanks hoggy, I had to resit it after the installation but it seemed fine since - the fact it recovers made me wonder if it's something else.

Here it is coming back unaided:

I'll power it down and take a look over the weekend and see if there's any dampness or a poor connection, and perhaps a little bit of electrical tape to keep it seated. I can't believe it's only held in by friction!
