Divert PV generation to battery instead of the home?

Hi there!

I am currently having issues with the CT clamp reading home consumption, and currently all excess solar is going back to the grid (even though I am not on an export plan) instead of the battery.

Am I able to redirect all PV generation to charge the battery instead of the home?

Thanks for any help for a temporary fix - a new CT clamp being installed soon.

dreamshock The inverter should be in ECO mode to minimise grid import/export. If the CT clamp isn't working (ie showing neither import nor export), ECO mode will only charge the battery as it won't know that you are importing.

Is there anyway to divert it all to the battery to charge it first?

Does the inverter have any errors? Check the notifications on the inverter page of your portal. If it has a red flashing circle it has tripped, possibly due to high voltage on the grid.

For now I have managed to set it to charge from grid at a level that matches what is being generated by PV (which is technically drawing it from the solar generation)

dreamshock Is your smart meter showing the load? If it is then you are paying peak rate price to charge the battery like that.

What timescale are you talking about? It can take a few seconds for the battery and inverter to ramp up to accept the charge. So if you have variable conditions (fast moving clouds) then it can often be playing catch up. Look at the trend, not the snapshot that the portal/app shows.
Remember also that the battery has a variable rate at which it can be charged at.
