My Hyb 5.0 Gen 1 is being replaced with a Hyb 5.0 Gen 2. I ordered a Gen 2 inverter, but only Gen 1s were available at the install time, so it's being replaced now that one is available. I have 2 x 9.5 batteries. My installer is coming shortly to make the change.

Any hints / tips for this upgrade in terms of monitoring / software setup, particularly GivTCP configuration which has been running fine on the Gen 1.

General thoughts:
1) I plan to set the IP address of the Gen 2 to the same as the Gen 1, although I'm not sure what will happen about the history of the Gen 1 as the s/n is embedded in the sensor names. I'm guessing I will see an whole bunch of new sensors and I will have to reconfigure any existing smarts I have in GivTCP.
2) I plan to go wired LAN rather than wireless.
3) I've downloaded all the current inverter data from the cloud interface "just in case".
4) I'm guessing I will have to go through the commissioning process again i.e. a calibration run.

Any help or thoughts from anyone that has done this or have a idea what will happen in GivTCP / the cloud interface would be much appreciated.

  • The portal account will need to be re-linked to the new GEN2 internal dongle

  • The GIVTCP entities will have the new inverter serial number attached, so you will have to fillde any sensor/automations etc to point the the new entities

  • The LAN set-up/operation is exactly as wifi (make sure the DIP switches are configured correctly) and work in parallel

  • Your installer will need to do the commissioning as this is done via engineer account access, if so then your installer should take care of the LAN set-up and portal linking.

Your installer can use the WiFi dongle from your gen 1 in the gen2. Doing that is a much more straightforward. You maintain all the portal data etc..

Thanks all. Gen 1 replaced with Gen 2, LAN sorted and GivTCP updated. Currently on the charge cycle of the calibration.
