Can anyone assist me with the performance of this battery ?
It starts charging correctly and then today it hit around 40% and then spikes immediatealy up to 100%
This isn't the first time that customer has experienced this. Have been trying to get some response from GIV but they are taking a while to respond and I notice the online chat seems to have been removed which is a real shame..

yep, this is a very well known problem GE was made aware of it 16+ months ago and we might (with a big stress on might) get a fix in the next couple of months - look at the beta testing thread and https://community.givenergy.cloud/d/713-firmware-3007-has-not-fixed-sudden-soc-drop-to-0-problem
As far as GE communication - don't bother they are not very good at it either.
Is this long awaited new firmware something newer than 3009?
In the case of the OP's charge jump, does it mean his battery is actually 40% and not 100% as I've had the same issue. If so, does it then mean that once it jumped to the 'fake' 100% (but is in actuality 40%) it no longer charges? In other words, is the remaining 60% locked away and is unusable?
Odinias You need to read the post about SoC not fixed. Whether the battery charge is actually 40% or 100%, you are right in thinking that it basically makes most of the battery capacity unavailable until it is either recalibrated, or it experiences an operation conditioning by slow discharge. There is a fix in the pipeline but every time the headline problem is solved another nuanced issue is detected. Givenergy has a horde of motivated beta tester owners helping them identify the issues. It's also fair to say threat not everybody experiences the problem.
Odinias No, it means that when it said it was at 40% it was really much higher so after a small charge, the battery voltage hit the upper limit and the displayed SOC jumped up to 100% to match the voltage. It was the 40% that was wrong, not the 100%.

I've waded through dozens of posts where people have reported the same problem as it's happened to me a few times and there just doesn't seem to be a very clear cut answer.
Well fully discharge the battery and you will find out if it was 40% or 100% full. The only workaround that works for me is to fully discharge the battery as often as I can.

There’s no single reason or single right answer. The SoC issue really is complex otherwise they’d have resolved it 16 months ago.
