Recent joined Agile having got Smart meter in / working.
Solax 6000 + GivE9.5Bat with 3000 a/c inverter
There is huge discrepancy between what app is saying imported and meter is saying:
today till 19:50
meter says 3.58Kwh used
app: house to grid 0.84; battery to grid 0.04 Total 0.88Kwh imported
meter says 6Kwh to grid
app: Generation to grid 5.32; Battery to Grid 2.94 Total 8.24Kwh exported

any comments to explain pls

Several possibilities:

1) The CT clamps used by the GE equipment are not as accurate as your smart meter - particularly at lower power values.
2) The GE running totals often lag the real world, as they only get updated periodically.
3) Some of the GE running totals just seem to be junk. Values in one place seem to contradict the same values displayed elsewhere.

I suggest you look over a longer time period to get a better view.

Also be aware that the GE totals will usually be on the lower side, because not all of the data gets received at the GE server end (often related to poor WiFi signals at the customer end). I have my WiFi router set to restart during the night, so I usually lose about half an hour of data, which just appears as a single straight line in the graphs.

Norris, have a look on the web portal under My Inverter - Meter Data and check the grid import and export values. On my system they are much closer to the smart meter data than those shown on any of the graphs (App or web portal).

I am not sure how if the background house usage fits in to this picture but this time of year we are using 1.73Kwh / day or 0.035Kwh over 1/2 hr during the night.
Not sure if above helps to rationalise / explain.
Before we had Solar our typical use was 2050Kwh /y about 8 / day in winter months and 5 / day in summer.

It looks the case to me.

The 'Import Today' value at 23:55 or later should closely match the total import value passed from the smart meter to Octopus.

@Norris, are you able to trace the route of the live cable out of the smart meter to where the GivEnergy CT clamp is located. Potentially there is a junction box (Henley block) which splits the power cables to feed 2 or more consumer units within your household. The GivEnergy CT clamp usually has a black and white cable pair running to the EM115 metering device with a small display on.

Hi Simon,
Thanks, you are 100% correct: +tail runs out of Meter through a mains 100A DPS then we have said CT Clamp before Henley block where the cable splits to original consumer unit and new Box with surge protection and CB's for the DC and AC connection of the Solax and GivE.
The end of day totals for the 17th:

So about 10x !

Norris, how long has your system been installed?

GivEnergy have more recently changed the grid metering device from an EM115 to GEM120, and although they look very similar and have a similar looking grid CT clamp, the clamps used are different and will produce incorrect results if not matched with the correct meter device with display.

Norris, both parts look the same as mine.

It does look like the latch on the CT clamp is not fully engaged which does make a difference to the readings.

I have put a cable tie around mine to ensure the latch does not release. Not stupidly tight, but enough to hold in place.
Only do this if it is safe, and there are no exposed live parts anywhere near (not that there should be if the installation has been done properly).

Simon,
the little plastic clip is a little bit light so added a bit of tape just to stop it unclipping and sitting tight around the cable. It just popped out as I pulled it out a bit to take photo, but back in place and tight up.

Hi Simon,
Did you manage to form an opinion on if there was a compatibility issue here?
Certainly a few % error from different forms of measurement can be expected, but a factor of 10 suggests something is not quite right!
Certainly when looking at the power graph especially when there is no significant house use: import / export / battery charging / discharging like the early hours, the flow to / from grid bounces about the zero line by say upto 50w. This looks as though +/- would more or less equal out and that is what the GivE is reading, the Smart meter is possibly just measuring the minus and the + bit is being lost somewhere, is that a crazy theory? or may be there is some tweaking of the parameters required!?
