I am currently getting 1.7kw out of my solar, battery is at 83% and charging.

So I plugged my Zappi in and set the MGL to 50% normally that would start the car charging but it hasn't it is all going to the GiveEnergy battery. With the Zappi sitting waiting for the excess.

So I plugged in the granny, set it to 6A and the car is charging at 1.4kw, the house is drawing 400w. Initially the grid imported the missing 150w-ish but after about a minute the battery started to discharge at 0.15kw.

I thought there may be a way set the GivEnergy battery SOC to below it's actual SoC so as the charging would stop & it would all go to the car but damned if I can find a way of doing it.

So my thoughts that the granny would be a better way forward seems to be the case until GivEnergy and MyEnergi complete the collaboration they were talking about.

Inverter Card > Settings > Battery Options > Set Charge Power to 0% will divert all PV to the house loads (& car charger) then grid export anything the charger & house doesn't take.
Similarly setting Discharge Power to 0% will stop it draining the battery if you get some clouds briefly.

I see you mention the Myenergi tie up, I've not heard they are working on anything at all together to be honest - has this come from Givenergy?

mjkelly5a Doesn't this depend where the CT Clamps for the zappi go? I do not think lowing the MGL would start the charge if the GE batt is still charging, the 700w minimum is still going to the GE batt. Wouldn't the default setup be to charge the home battery and then the EV?

Or as stop gap turn off Eco mode on the GE system to free up the solar?

THALL The MGL will not work in the current setup after I drew it up. The development for alleged integration between Zappi and MyEnergi, which I cannot get an answer on from either company, is supposed to fix it.

Turning off Eco is probably the answer but it isn't that easy in the beta portal to then setup the % charging. I can turn it off but now the sun has gone in! So'I'll have a go tomorrow.

hoggy Yes. When iVoltz fitted my system I wanted them to also fit a battery CT clamp for the Harvi which integrates to the Zappi.

They called GivEnergy support (Novemeber) to ask what they could do and were told that this integration was coming within the next couple of months. They'll come and fit a new module to the communications hub, a LORA, with the green flashing lights 😅 .

I fitted a battery CT clamp to the Harvi anyway and it gives me real time power flows without waiting for the 5 minute updates.

I'll give the charge settings a go later. Equally I may be able to set the discharge floor to a % higher than what the battery is actually at.

I raised a new feature ticket a while back for having the option to ring fence household demand by a set wattage.

I know my base load fluctuates up to 500w and the Zappi needs 1.4kw to get started.

Therefore 'reserving 2kw' of PV output for household demand prior to charging the battery would resolve this.

It would have to be setup so that any PV value below the set number still behaves normally, ie demand and battery charge but once it's above that it trims back battery charge instead. Same for any excess above that value, it goes into the battery.

So if my PV is generating 1.8kw and I've set 2kw normal behaviour. At 2kw it then stops charging the battery with it all reserved for the household demand. At 4kw of PV 2kw is for the house and 2kw goes into the battery.

As we can adjust sliders for battery charge and discharge rate at the moment and the system already regulates the PV output as part of that it should just be a spot of code - the hardware already manages all the required functions.

It's a GivEnergy side solution that doesn't require support from other competitors in the sector of the use of not quite officially supported APIs. Whilst not as robust or flexible as API integration it would work.

I'm not convinced API integration is really going to work for the Zappi either, it'll use all the PV I have without hitting it's 7kw output limit - so even if I can set a priority of Zappi first the house battery won't charge unless my PV production is low.

yandards The ability to set device priority based on generation would be amazing to maximise using generation. So GE BATT charge until PV generation hits 1800w then charge the car. As the GE system can charge well below the 1400w minimum needed for the car. But still keep the charge sliders maxed out for when the car isn't charging etc etc.

I think I kind of did this in a fashion with the Custom Dashboard thing where you can set triggers to "Do Something" at X Power Level. I guess if I mashed it with the EVCharger stuff (which can tweak / adjust the battery discharge rates already) that would kind of do it?
