Gen3 and future roadmap/wishlist!

I see Gen3 inverters will be out soon - as far as I can see there are not big changes from Gen2? Is it mostly better connections?

I guess the All-in-one is going to take a lot of sales interest in future if pricing is attractive and with its whole home emergency changeover.

From my point of view with a Gen1 hybrid inverter & 3 batteries I think its unlikely to be necessary or cost effective to upgrade.

Probably the only thing I would consider a future upgrade would be the inverter if it offered:

1. Higher nominal output (would help support our ASHP as well as e/v charger etc)
2. Higher backup output (would make it easier to have whole home changeover without risk of exceeding limits)

I'm not sure if there is any other thread on roadmap or wishlist? but thought I would start this off to see other peoples wishlist and as means of feedback to GivEnergy

I would say

1. Get all existing promised equipment/upgrades out first (I.e EMS/firmware/AIO etc)
2. Either amend the AIO gateway or produce a separate unit to allow for whole house backup for existing systems (single and multi inverter, and AC/hybrid), as currently info
   Is that gateway is for AIO alone.
3. Stabilise/sort out the app and reporting

Smk82 I would guess the Gateway will not be able to help with standalone systems and is only for AIO as it will not have the ability to draw sufficient output?

I have setup manual changeover in my setup which is "ok"....

But lets see what others say...

I doubt there will be a gateway device for current AC's and hybrids. They simply can not export enough power to be a sensible whole house backup and would not be suitable for the masses.

EMS yes, I am pretty sure the ability to have multiple inverters was an early selling point.

I would like some kind of upgrade path, recycle plan. Given the speed new versions are coming out I would like the option for discounted upgrades myself.

I hope the software team doesn't spend the next 12+ months on supporting all this new hardware. Plenty of existing customers that need improvement:

• Enhance timed charge/discharge capabilities (e.g. allow multiple periods)
• Fix bugs with timed discharges
• Intelligent battery charging based on solar prediction
• Integration with smart plugs to turn on things when excess solar available
• Show "time until 100%" or 0% based on current charge/discharge rates.
• Improved "Home" connection in the apps - constantly breaks
• General minor improvements in the apps (switching tabs resets dropdowns for example)

Tim Adams I have a manual switch for one inverter, it’s hooked the whole house but our base load is low (₂-400W most of the time). So enough head room for kettle/microwave etc.

Basically I’d love a gateway which allows for multiple inverters (which would Give the equivalency of the AIO) and still allow for AC panels to work (I know hybrid panels already do in a powercut). Probably dreaming here, but it does say wish list!

Smk82 Maybe an EMS 2? I think something like that exists on their commercial systems, to manage all the inverters as 1 pool for true backup operations. But that would mean investment in some new kit to add functionality to older devices. Not sure it will happen, I would expect the focus will be on Hybrids as their solar offering and the AIO as a replacement to the AC3. I think a smaller and larger AIO might appear in the not too distant future. Say 7kw and 20kw battery options.

To be honest if there was a good second hand market and I could get enough for my current kit towards an AIO I would most likely upgrade. But not sure who would want used inverters, batteries etc. As current batteries can not be linked to the AIO I expect I will need to wait for the majority of my kit to die before upgrading.

EEBUS support on the Wishlist from me - starts talking to home appliances, heat pumps, cars etc... (SMA Sunny Home Manager would be something to ahem copy...)
