Battery Jumps to 100% Even After FW Update

Battery: 9.5kWh
Inverter: 3.6kW Hybrid Gen 2

I updated the FW a few days ago, the battery calibrated itself correctly with no issues.

However, today the SoC just jumped from 88% to 100%. I was under the impression that the FW update was supposed to fix these sudden jumps or was I wrong? It's not a massive jump but it's a jump nonetheless.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Or maybe the FW update was never meant to fix this?

Also, when the battery reaches 100%, it starts to discharge to the grid until it drops back down to about 95%. Again, I thought this FW update was supposed to fix this bug?

The new firmware needs a few cycles (3 - 5 I think) to learn the actual parameters of your battery. You will see small jumps or drops while it works out your real capacity rather than the estimated capacity.

Thanks for the response. I'll try to run the battery down to zero and charge back up to 100% a couple of times over the next few days. Hopefully that will sort itself out. Is it also recommended to do a full cycle every now and again just to ensure it knows the top and bottom levels of the battery? Say once every month maybe?

Any information with regards to the other bug that I mentioned where it starts to discharge once it hits 100%? Was the FW update supposed to fix this as well?

Appreciate any information. Thanks.

Not sure about cycling over the next few days - it sounds sensible, but I'll let other who are more knowledgeable weigh in on that; I've just left mine running normally, assuming it will sort itself out in a while.

Regarding your bug, I do recall @TheDragon (GivEnergy) saying that you could see hunting at the upper and lower ranges as it learns its charge, e.g. it thinks its at 100% but then realises that there is room for more, so it resets 100% to 95% once the BMS learns that there is room for more charge.

Take that last one with a pinch of salt though as I'm no expert unfortunately.

Odinias The discharge to 95% once it hits 100 and then charging back up and repeating that cycle is due to the Gen 2 inverter FW so it is fixed when the next release of that comes out (I believe it's the first of the new inverter FWs due for release), the FW update that is currently available to 3012 is the battery one.

The battery FW will allow it to 're-assess' the SOC% when idle (so in theory it could reach 100%, stop, then after 45mins or so realise it's really only at 95% and start charging again) but that wouldn't sho up as a discharge from 100%, merely the battery SOC changing.

Phil_H Awesome, thank you so much for the information. I'm not exactly tech minded and there are so many different FW updates scheduled that I'm confused as which one fixes what bug. So very nice to hear that the 100% discharge bug will eventually be fixed with the Inverter update.
