As title. Usually 300ish watts with normal things on fridge tv etc. Does this for a while then goes back to 300. Is this the system or do I need to look for a leak? 5kw gen1 and 9.5 battery, 16 panels east west

Maybe your fridge is working, they vary, the compressors turn on and off all the time.
I would guess that several appliances will vary over time, even the tv
I don't think it is anything to worry about unless it is sustained.

Not sustained but not uncommon either. I’ll just ignore it for now but I don’t think it’s the fridge. When I’ve got a spare hour I’ll go round turning things off
SimonClarke Fridges & Freezers have to work harder in warm weather. I have a fridge & freezer in the garage which gets very hot, I’ve noticed a definite increase in base load over the last few days.
Its 12c outside! Stupid weather…

My house round at 3ish too, last time I had a consistent 700 I had left strip lights on in the garage!
Different appliances will kick in and raise the level for a little while, fridges, freezers and so forth... Did some one turn on a tap and the water was heated by the boiler.
So many things that can temp raise the use.
Look at the avg 30 min use to get a better picture. Mine sits somewhere in the 350-500w range during the day if not doing much except using a computer and watching TV. But it'll still jump up a few hundred watts every now and again.
Definite jump from the normal 300ish background to 500+ for 15 minutes. Reading nearly 800 on the app. Nothing manually changed at all so just fridges really as I can’t think of anything else turning on and off. High though for a fridge in running mode not start up. Any ideas gratefully received. Seen it before and have been unable to pin it down. Didn’t have time last night to investigate but next time I will. Hoping to get an Octopus mini which might help maybe perhaps…
Next time you see a jump go and turn off the fridge and note the drop.
Or put a smart plug on the fridge so you can see what it is using.
You'd be surprised what a fridge or even a TV can use in watts when running... A fridge/freezer will run a compressor to circulate and exchange the heat that allows the fridge/freezer to remain at optimal temperature... if you've got it set to keep things cooler during the warmer weather, it runs more often.
Some of the modern TV's, the larger they are... the more power they consume when turned on... it's only when you start moving to OLED screens that you'll see a little power drop in similar sized screens. Regulations only determine how much power is consumed on standby... not during use.
My 32" HDR computer monitor can consume well over 100w when being used... If I fire up a game on it... that can be another 300-400w as my CPU/GPU draws a lot more power... There are advantages and disadvantages to having a more powerful system... or a bigger TV... There's more advantages to having a more modern and efficient fridge/freezer though. I have 2 large Beko fridge freezers, one in the kitchen and on in the utility room... Both of those consume about as much as the old 12yr old american style Samsung in my mums old house, or the 20yr old fridge freezer I had in my old house.
You should also check how much usage house use while on empty battery, basically while taking from grid, I have a feeling it will show lower numbers and more sustained.
Before the battery and panels were installed at the start of April the background usage was about 70w early hours with nothing on except outside lights and various vampire timers chargers and standby things. Tv and heating on (oil) about 300w. This is winter time in the dark. The other evening was still daylight so no lights, no heating, tv on and all the same things and the battery of course. I just looked at the app and it was showing 6-800 watts. I checked how long for and it was about 15 minutes. What I wanted to know was whether this was the system doing this or has something else changed what it is doing? Nothing else has been altered and it is currently about 13c outside and has been for weeks! Summer in norfolk has been cancelled.
I was wondering if some of that could be the inverter being powered from the battery, e.g. whilst no solar, but I'd expect that to be relatively constant?
Was still a small amount of solar (100+watts) when it happened. I thought it might be a self consumption type thing but as you say why would it switch on and off? I’ve been busy so haven’t had a chance yet to properly investigate but I will.
