Battery is not getting utilised fully when sun is out and battery is full

The new firmware (gen 2 hybrid 5kw) has been installed yesterday and I have noticed that I am not pulling anywhere near the max of the battery and I am pulling from the grid. I also installed the battery (9.5 kw) firmware on the day before.
Before the upgrades I would see the battery ramp up to 3600W fairly quickly but not anymore. I have restarted the inverter (from the portal) but I am still seeing high grid import and very low battery discharge.

Has anyone seen this before? I don't have anyautomations running etc. I am just using GivTCP to show the data in HA.
The pictures were taken when an electric shower was running on top of other loads in the house, solar was providing 5000W, battery was full and set to discharge at 3600W.

I did notice that during the night when dishwasher and car was being charged that the battery did discharge at full rate. At that time there was obviously no sun about and the battery wasn't anywhere near full (50%).

Can someone please help?

Its either / or on the Hybrids not combined total.
If Solar is producing 5kW then that's your lot. There is nowhere for the battery to fill in the missing difference.
It's not 5kW from Panels plus another 3.6kW from the battery. 5kW to AC is all these inverters can do no matter what the source.

Thanks for the explanation. In previous weeks when the electric shower was on I was seeing the battery use up to 3500W. It must not have been as sunny as has been the last few days.

Trojan00 there was a bug long ago that pulled the PV down and ramped the battery up to Max (instead of just using the PV) thought it had gone but maybe it returned for Gen 2 again?
If you can remember the day you can scroll back through the graphs to check.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but my system only seems to allow charge / discharge the battery at a rate of 2600 W ?
I see no option to change this level.

I have 14 x 390 w solar panels which can generate at peak 4600W.
A gen1 5KW inverter and a 9.5KWh battery...

It means at peak generation / peak usage I am still ending up exporting / importing to/from grid .

skinnerneil in the portal my inverter - settings - battery, you can reduce the charge and discharge rates to less than 2.6kW which is the maximum for the gen 1 hybrid. You can do the same in the app from settings charge power and discharge power. The gen 2 hybrid can charge/discharge at up to 3.6kW.

I appreciate the answer - I will ask my installer what the cost might be to upgrade to the GEN2 inverter (and then weigh up if worth it or not)

skinnerneil The 9.5KWh battery has a max charge or discharge rate of 2.6KW, so you can't exceed that for storage. I saw some mention that this rate could/might be raised a bit in the future but it's not going to be much, if so.
I believe by using 2 batteries you can exceed 2.6KW (NB: not KWh) but then only to 3.6KW (the max for the inverter [not really sure about this bit as I thought it would be 5KW)].
Using 2 inverters & 2 batteries enables you to both store and use more power, so you can draw e.g. 6KW and/or charge at 5KW.
Downside to the multiple inverters thing is that G.E. don't officially support that setup, although people use it and it mostly works.

The 8.2kWh and 9.5kWh batteries have a limit of 80A at 51.2V (about 4kW), but the gen 1 inverter can only push 2.5kW and gen 2 3.6kW AC/DC or DC/AC. If you have a number of batteries in parallel (eg 2x8.2 or 2x9.5 or one of each), the gen 1 inverter can only supply/consume energy at the rate of 2.5kW and gen2 3.6kW, irrespective of the number of batteries.

With smaller batteries, the battery becomes the bottleneck, so you do see an increase in charge/discharge rates with multiple batteries, but the larger ones exceed the ability of the gen 1 and gen 2 inverters.

If you want to be able to supply larger loads (ie > 2.5/3.6kW), multiple inverters are the answer, or the AIO.

Note that the inverter limit of 2.5/3.6kW is for AC to DC and vice versa. If you have an excess of PV, the gen 1 inverter can push 2.5kW PV-DC to charge the battery simultaneously with up to 5kW PV-AC to supply house load/export. the figures for a gen 2 are 3.6kW PV-DC and 5kW PV-AC.
