I'm having issues when my battery gets to an apparent 100 percent. instead of just sitting at idle it seems to constantly cycle between charging at around 170w then discharging at anywhere between 400-600W. Any suggestions?
My setup is:
Hy5 Gen2 running 909 firmware
GivBat 9.5 on 3012 firmware
RHardie I have exact same setup as you, same firmware, and I used to have that issue, but it was resolved with a firmware update (To the version I'm on now). I still get the odd blip though.
glad its not just me. what makes it even more strange is that when i pause the battery to try and get it to sit at idle it just ignores the pause and carries on doing it.
RHardie Yeah, I have that issue too. Pausing it either has a small charge creep or discharge creep.
I believe the way to do it, is to turn off ECO, and remove any charge timers, and that in theory should idle the batteries...
Someone else may know better.
You can also set your “reserve” higher than the current SOC and that stops it apparently.
I have the same, only started at 909. You should find it only happens when PV exceeds your inverter max rating.
I also find pause makes no difference. I have been playing with ha to limit charging to try and only hit 100% after 3pm, where my PV drops below 5kW.
As an aside, are you also seeing that setting charge rate to 0 actually continues to charge at 297 ( during normal eco charging )

Not sure about that....I have a 5kW inverter, and only 3.2kW of panels...with no one at home, so not sure that applies for me.
EDIT: Actually you may be correct, after checking my blips, it was at a time when my wife probably used the kettle. It's been dead flat since she went out.

I must set an alarm to test this on my inverters tomorrow. They're full to the brim again now!
so i just tried to do a forced discharge through the app and it ignores that and carries on charging at 174w.
i just read something in the Beta tester thread about the Gen2 on 909 possibly needing a "grid reset" to fix the problem. is this something GE could do on mine? S/n = ED2248G069
RHardie Hopefully the word has got round that doing a "grid reset" also removes the DNO export limit (if you have one) and it'd be worth checking that it is working properly afterwards.
Tim I didnt know that. My DNO allows me to export 6kw which I believe is the default setting on the inverter anyway
I was told by Givenergy support several times that the 909 firmware was supposed to fix the issue. By reading people here on 909 with the issue then it looks like it’s not resolved.
Really not happy with all the issues I’ve been reading about. I should of done more research before going with Givenergy.
IanW to be fair to GE I must say that the 909 firmware is a vast improvement on previous versions. It fixed lots of other issues I was having and this current one I can live with short term as it doesnt really affect performance. I am just reporting the problem i am having with my exact setup as it seems this issue isnt happening to most people. I'm sure they will get to the bottom of it soon though.

I'm not on the beta firmware but our hybrid inverters both shut off charge when the rate is set to zero, as can be seen here between 09:33 and 10:17 when I reset the charge rate to 900W.
justpassing I am also seeing the charge rate of 297w when pausing charge in eco mode.
Thought the inability of the Gen 2 to fully pause/stop was a known FW bug a while back.
I had thought it got sorted in one of the numerous beta builds but I've no idea which one or when!
Tim Thanks for testing. Are your inverters both hybrid gen1 ?
hoggy yes me too! I thought I would check. My gen2 5kw on latest 909 is much better for both early morning startup, and no capping of one string. However only now on 909 do I see the battery oscillation ( +170, -410w). The inability to pause charge below 297 is the same between 906 and 909.

justpassing Not the greatest fix but if you set your reserve to say 100% does it stop fully then or has that been removed on that FW already - i know there was talk that it was getting killed off
(bit of a poor fix but if you really want 0 and that slider still works it might be the only way!)
hoggy I dont seem to be able to do anything to stop it. Pause doesnt work, changing reserve level doesnt do it either. Just to recap, I'm on a gen2 5kw on 909 and 3012 battery firmware
