Check Inverter Export Limit

Is there anyway to visually check what export limit was set on the system. Api, Modbus or Portal? I just want to see what limit was set.

Would the export limit impact the maximum generation of the array in anyway? I.e would it cap the panel generating power? If the excess generation could not used or couldn't be exported (due to cap) what happens to it, as it has to go somewhere?

As to how you can check what the export limit is currently set to; I would email GivEnergy support as they are the only ones who can alter the setting and will change it if required. I asked for mine to be set to 3.68kW to keep my DNO happy and they did it straight away. It would be nice if there was a way the customer could see what the inverter export limit is set to but I am not aware of any at present. Future add on maybe?

I have 2 5kW gen 1 hybrid inverters sat in parallel on a single phase supply. When I export the system limits it's output to 6.4kW total ( why 6.4kW not 3.8kW or even 7.2kW). My DNO is happy for me to increase but I don't understand how the inverter deal with seeing the export of the other unit through it's own CT. Since they don't communicate with each other.
Any ideas?

ian What is the rest of your setup please?

Going to assume a nice 9.5kw battery connected to each inverter, solar pv only connected to 1 inverter. So each inverter can push 5kw to the grid, 10kw total. 2.5kw max from each battery there rest from solar. So are you exporting battery power? And is the sun out at that time to get more than 5kw?

steve My G99 DNO letter allows me to export up to 10kW. I have 9.2kW of PV inverters and a GivEnergy AC3 (3kW) battery inverter. I recently started force discharging during the Octopus Flux peak period and noticed that the Giv inverter would back off to avoid exporting greater than 6kW. I queried this with my installer who told me that 6kW is the default export limit and he then increased the export limit to 10kW. Since then I have seen combined PV and battery export of up to 8kW and I look forward to more as we approach midsummer.

No need to bother GivEnergy if your installer can easily provide support on this matter.

sunnyjoe My installer id consider ti be pretty good, but when i asked him he got confused. A quick email to GE and they upped mine to to 6.5Kw. Looks like AC3s are set at 6Kw. So yes, an installer should be able to do it, if not contact GE.

Both inverters have a grid CT that monitors the flow of energy from the consumer unit to the grid and vice versa. In our case (2xgen1 HY5), our export limit is 3.68kW and both inverters are set to the same limit. When PV exceeds house load, the inverters start to export. When the combined export reaches 3.68kW, they both stop increasing output. The only issue we have is that in combination, they push up the local voltage higher than necessary. If we shut down one inverter, the voltage is lower than if both are exporting at the same time.

As long as the inverter CT (whether attached to single hybrid or AC-connected or even as part of a multiple inverter installation) is monitoring the connection between the consumer unit and the DNO fuse, it doesn't matter where the export is coming from, each inverter will only export, if the measured value is less than the limit specified in the inverter firmware, which can be set by installer or Givenergy.

yes I have 4 batteries 8.2kWh each arranged in pairs. each inverter has 6kWp of solar. so I would be able to export the maximum of both inverters.
