Moving inverter to AP mode after connection to home wifi is established

I recently had panels+9.5kwh Givenergy Gen2 battery + Givenergy Hybrid Inverter 5KW gen3. My installers were having trouble getting it to connect to the wifi, but I have since more or less fixed this (still drops here and there but for the mostpart its fine). I am now wondering if I can connect to the inverters own wifi network and set the inverter into AP mode, as it appears to be broadcasting its own Wi-fi network, which is then surely interfering with its ability to connect to my main network. Just wanted to check if what I am saying makes sense and would work.

sparkeeh You can follow the instructions in the Wifi dongle installation manual https://kb.givenergy.cloud/article.php?id=1&oid=1 to change the inverter wifi settings.

I found that my engineers hadn’t finished setting up mine properly and had left the inverters with an open wifi and broadcasting the SSID. I set a password on the inverter and changed it to a hidden network to increase security.

You may want to consider a pair of powerline adapters to extend your wifi to your inverters. Our inverters are in the garage and they can’t see our house wifi at all so they are connected to a powerline wifi hotspot that we already had in the lounge. Works quite reliably

Better yet, use a power line adapter and direct connect to the Lan port.

rjp True. The powerline adapters without wifi are cheaper; I picked an additional TP link PA4010 up for £10 off ebay recently.
We have two inverters and had an existing powerline wifi extender network which the inverters could “see” OK so it made sense to use that. If starting from scratch and don’t have a need to boost the wifi then just a single powerline LAN socket is simplest & cheapest.
