Hi,

Problem this morning with inverter FD2311G462 and its associated battery. Warning on Inverter and Battery at 0.0% even though set at 4%.
Also noticed the DC discharge (on both inverters) was changed to 00:00 from 16:00 without my intervention.
I've restarted both the battery and inverter but no charge, seems to be stuck on discharging?

log in to the web portal.
click on inverter
click on settings
click on "restore defaults"
click submit

@TheDragon (GivEnergy)

Is this something that can be resolved from your end, not had a problem like this before?

The warning has now gone on the porta/app for that inverter and is showing normal - hopefully a charge might start!

#6 TheDragon (GivEnergy)

I'm on leave, but took a quick look.
It had discharged and BMS had hibernated.
Voltage read 3v.
Recovering now leave on a slow activate battery charge for 20 mins. Then I'll l
et solar charge it again once voltage back to 48v+

Hi Paul,

Sorry to bother you again, the battery has again dropped to 0.0% on the same inverter FD2311G462
I've reset, but can't kick start it again if you could help from your end, thanks.

Same, if you look back though my thread the BMS went into hibernation - hopefully the same issue, but obviously something not right for it to repeat.
Also, need to know if there is a process the end user can do to resolve it in the meantime as typically happens on a bank holiday!

I will contact tech support to get this resolved.
Will update you when I get to the bottom of it.

Spoke to tech today and they had tried to wake the unit but failed to respond have asked us to do a physical reboot on site and if that doesn't work to call them. However there must be a reason this is happening, is there anything that may have caused your battery to behave this way ?

#18 TheDragon (GivEnergy)

@94jdh

Kicked it. The battery was at 38v. The question is why is the inverter not stopping at 4% around 50v min.
This is a different issue to 100% reading 0%
The battery is actually totally flat. Needing reviving.
Set a charge till 9am. So when the sun comes up it can take over

You are on my beta list. Have you joined the beta forum?
This reoccurring battery is something I'd like to test the new BMS on.

Hi Paul,

Thanks, yes joined the beta forum from the email you sent out

Edit: after the last issue I upped the reserve to 6%, strange it is bypassing on one?

Hi Paul,

Would you mind giving it a kick this morning again from your end - can't seem to get it to force charge, thanks

94jdh reset on our battery today didn't work, so we are back in touch with giv to see what's next. Will update here as soon as we have an answer hopefully within the hour.

94jdh TheDragon (GivEnergy) spoke to give help today and they tried to get the battery going to no avail.
Have instructed us to charge with a 50-60v 5 amp charger. Incidentally battery temp is reading -7.2 degrees c. Not sure why it has emptied past the 4 percent reserve either. This is where we are at the moment will try to trickle charge it back to life but not great having to do this. Feel a little deflated with it all.

who has one of those?

I have had the same issue for the past month (SD2104G059) since the firmware upgrade. Have been speaking with givenergy tech support and they got it going the first few times it happened, but they couldn't revive it last week and I'm booked in for an engineer site visit. Bit of a pain having no battery with all this good sunlight 🙁

D
#27 Dualelectrical

Sorry to hear that, seems there are a few people with a similar problem so there must be something causing this.

I’ve got this problem as well. Two of my four brand new 9.5kW batteries on a brand new system showing 0% after only 1 month of operation.

It’s been like that a for month already and I still don’t have a date for an engineer visit, despite contacting my installer and GE on day one. GE are pleasant enough in the phone after multiple calls but there is no sense of urgency and no updates. The installer had to come out first, which didn’t resolve the problem, that took 2 visits and 2 weeks.

GE said 3-5 weeks but still no date for an Engineer visit.

I keep chasing but they said they are short because of holidays, trying to tie it in with other visits in the area, etc. I am really angry about the response time. I’ve spent a small fortune on my system, if something is faulty it should be fixed or replaced immediately. It should be obvious their end what’s broken and someone dispatched the next day. If they can’t do that then at least delegate the installer to replace the faulty equipment and return the original equipment for a refurbishment.

I’m pretty livid.

@TheDragon (GivEnergy)
Is this all to do with the 3013 update as seems to be a lot of similar issues. Is there a patch on the horizon ?

D
#30 Dualelectrical

@TheDragon (GivEnergy) what is your suggestion for getting things working in the mean time ?

#31 TheDragon (GivEnergy)

Dualelectrical

3013 was a minor change to 3012 to help users who dont cycle the battery. For then a new sub set of users, this additional range for calculating the SOC adjustments.

The next version we are working on, is finally addressing what is causing the SOC to mis report 0% when its actually full and the charge circuit disconnects.

If you wish to try this ahead of its full testing and release, then you will need to join our beta program. We do ask that we get feedback on certain issues if you are affected by something we are trying to fix.

Feel free to email into support and ask, with why you feel the beta can help you and how your system can help for the benefit of all. , i will assess your system for the issue, load the FW and add you to the private beta test group, where you can discuss findings with other users.

If not, the next BMS will be released when we feel it has no known bugs.

The symptoms here are non the normal.

I see the inverter reads 0V but the battery reads 55V.
Indicating the battery is not connected to the inverter, breaker off, is the usual cause here

I also see there is no BMS data since the 26th Aug, indicating the BMA is either crashed, or disconnected.

Both these together, would indicate the battery (Gen2) is not connected, as the orange connector contains both DC and BMS wires.

If the battery is connected, & DC breaker on, something has actually failed.

D
#33 Dualelectrical

TheDragon (GivEnergy) that's great thanks for your response.
Could it be an issue with the cable or is there anything else we can try.
Breaker is on and battery connected we have been instructed to charge the battery with a separate charger is this a waste of time ?

Hi @TheDragon (GivEnergy) - could you have a look at mine (SD2104G059) ticket #57508 when you get a chance to see if anything can be done remotely to kickstart it pls?

#35 TheDragon (GivEnergy)

pet1e I can wake the BMS no problem. I can see its data, but the terminal voltage read at the Inverter DC input is 4v. Typical of the DC breaker being open (Down).
Please check the green DC battery breaker is in the UP position

P
#36 pet1e

TheDragon (GivEnergy) Hi, yes the battery breaker is in the UP position. However, there were no lights on the battery at all (it must have switched itself off). I have pressed the button at the side and it is now switched on, with a red status light.

#37 TheDragon (GivEnergy)

pet1e I assume the red status light and battery soon went off afterwards, with clicking?

P
#38 pet1e

TheDragon (GivEnergy) No, when I switched it on from the side, the battery beeped, the status light went green initially and then after a few seconds it went red. It is currently red

#39 TheDragon (GivEnergy)

pet1e ok, so no click of death.

I will pass this info to the engineer scheduling team

My system EA2302G008 suddenly discharged again overnight to 0% soc. The soc was around 35% when the discharge began, all the way down to zero for no apparent reason. Can anybody please help?

I too have had a battery BMS Failure.
3.6kW Hybrid Gen 2 Inverter. (Replaced 5kW Gen 1 Inverter in March 2023 having been installed as part of whole system in Jan 2023).
9.5kW Battery.
Firmware updated to Inverter to ver 911.
& Battery to ver 3013 on 9/8/2023.
Battery BMS failure on 23/8/2023.
Version now showing 0.
Battery light status: red light on under 'Status' & all 4 green lights on right side are on.
Inverter light panel shows normal operational lights for PV working except that red ring in centre flashes every 30 secs.
On/off button on right side of battery not functioning.
GivEnergy support diagnosis is a 'Failed BMS' which is 'frozen'.
Awaiting manual check on site with installer engineer.
Hope this helps others in same situation.

Flat battery here too today.
Cannot say I understand much of the above but I can see that the solar panels have not been charging the battery.
Inverter is on and showing all the correct lights.

I had something today which looked very similar with FA2307F259 - BMS and battery overvoltage errors, then battery dropped to 0% charge. Rebooting the inverter and the battery seems to have stopped it from happening (although the inverter has lost comms with the meter, so my system is still useless to me 😢)

@TheDragon (GivEnergy) Would the beta firmware help the original issue?

The issue resolved itself after I updated to version 3013. It was still on 3008...
