Replaced my router yesterday and set up an identical SSID on 2.4GHz to what I had previously. Everything connected perfectly except my GivEnergy Inverter...
No matter what I did I just couldn't get it to connect. Ant then I read some old post on here about different security protocols. Sure enough changing from WPA2-PSK to WPA2/WPA3-Personal and it connected instantly.
Don't know what it is about the default PSK setting but my inverter didn't like it...
A bit of older equipment bricks itself in mixed wpa2/3 environments, even though it should be fine.
If that screenshot us your inverter I’d suggest your new router is using wpa3 or a mixed wpa/3 environment and the only one was using 2 only.
kram the mixed environment is what worked! The top option (default on my new router) was what didn’t work.
This has been discussed before. Simply changing the new network to the same SSID and password still presents as a new network and, as the dongle portal isn't that smart, it wont connect. Best practice is to connect the dongle to another network then back to whatever you want to set it to. Easiest route is to connect it to the stock settings from your providers wifi and then rename it back to your preferred naming. Then you can reconnect the dongle to the new (old name) network. This shouldn't interfere with the devices in your house that are clever enough to connect to a renamed network.
That’s mad. What if a home is covered by multiple access points or a mesh and the strongest one changes so changing which the dongle connects to?
That would madness. Not saying it’s not as I have a special device with a special network just for it… but ouch.
kram I don't make the rules. I know it has issues connecting to some mesh networks (I have a dedicated network for this reason). Just passing on my experience.

As I said I completely believe people, I have a device that’s just like that. Thankfully being upgraded as it turns out a more modern version of the WiFi card in it exists if I can get one from a scrap unit.
Just painful.
