Does ANYBODY have a remotely working energy graph

I just cannot figure out why everything is so inconsistent between meter info, system date, energy graph and the graph down the bottom of the page on the old dashboard and for some reason 2/4 of the last 4 days are negative whilst the other two seem to be normal.

21st of august - Generation was 18.9 (according to meter data)

20th august - Generation was 19.3 (according to meter data)

19th august - Generation was 17.3 (according to meter data)

Minimum load on house is 300w so im not sure why all measurements are over half that, after the guys came and hard wired the gateway and AIO to the LAN they both show up on network and everything appears to be working and consumption SEEMS to be display okish now but the number seems a little high but im not sure how long its been tracking for.

It was switched over from wifi to LAN between 15:30-16:00 but there is nothing at all displayed since just before 12:00.

I have absolutely no idea what is going on.

Edit
For the Home Assistant users do you see your inverter as offline in the cloud when you have it running and linked with the inverter?

Jellybaby Inverter going offline - no (I Have a gen1) no issues at all.

Do you have a good connection to the internet (Given you are now hardwired you should have) - But odd readings could be loss of comms as they seem to use interval data and not cumulative data.

I added my own investigation to another post about the portal/app data, the inverter data read directly, the givtcp polled data in home assistant and the meter readings.

Summary is inverter data, givtcp and meter export data all align, the givenergy portal & app data is quite different and usually lower than the other data sources

https://community.givenergy.cloud/d/2867-giv-energy-readings-vs-smart-meter-readings/30

I have two inverters and a non monitored FIT array which may be contributory factors in the data being off, but others in that discussion agree that the portal data is indicative of trend rather than definitive.

geoffreycoan Its really frustrating, with how much this equipment costs and how much energy it uses it should at least have memory for live data before submitting at intervals.

I have the All In One system, over 7 grand you would think all the data would be at the very least consistant but based off the same readings every different graph whether it be daily breakdown at bottom of page or energy graph or power graph there is absolutely ZERO consistency.

I am trying to find an offline solution that my old IHD provided for accurate info but nearly everything is cloud based.

Jellybaby agree it's frustrating that the figures aren't right given the money spent.
I even have negative figures

I’m pretty happy with the home assistant data and it's entirely local but of course that's more hardware and setup effort

geoffreycoan This is yesterday and today, no clue as to why it stopped midday and it has been on LAN connection since 4pm so it can't be a wifi issue.

Still waiting on Raspberry Pie shortages to subside to get home assistant sorted.

I am seeing exactly the same as you.

1) Some days with negative readings.

2) The “total generated today” shows zero - but each inverter shows how much it generated individually ok. On the infographic if I click on the roof, I can see the total for both correctly.

3) sometimes I see the inverter showing negative numbers. Mostly not though.

4) Generation and Meter data on the inverter tabs looks good. (Although I did notice when I reset an inverter the other day, the meter forgot what it generated and jumped back like 4kW on “generated today” and “total generated” strangely enough??

I’m not sure what’s going on either but it’s very annoying.

I must add that I have high speed fibre broadband (1GB), a full house mesh system and signal quality and speed is excellent standing right next to the inverters. So it’s not a signal/ speed/ connectivity problem.

Jellybaby looking at my own graphs in the app, I've got data throughout the 21st and 22nd. It does show -5kW generation to home and -16kW battery to home which make no sense, but the solar figures are coming through ok and all positive.

Yours looks like a comms failure. What does the inverter status show in the portal? I'd suggest rebooting the inverter, remotely if you can or turn it off and on if the inverter shows as lost. Also check the portal for inverter errors and the front panel for red lights. A high grid voltage can trip the inverter off, mine has on occasion been off for hours.
Can you post what your setup is in case there's anything obvious

I bought a cheap tiny PC to run home assistant. I paid £80 off ebay as I wanted a decent specification but cheaper £50 would have done. Intel i5 5th generation, 4gb ram, 64gb ssd would be fine

I once saw negative generation. It was on the day of a power cut. Support said it's likely to have happened due to gaps in data.

I'm not convinced the graphs are using the best data source - if there's a gap in the data they're not accurate. The data could be derived from the cumulative totals instead, but not sure how complicated that would be to develop.

I've noticed on numerous days that some data is missing from these graphs so used them for info rather than take them as 100% correct.

I suspect this is an AIO thing / quirk.
So the gateway has 3 CTs
1 measures Grid coming in/Out
1 measures the house load
1 measures the PV input.

I imagine that the only way it knows what has actually gone in and come out of the AIO itself (given I'm not aware of anything monitoring that part) is whatever the "missing" part of those 3 values adds up to. I'm not entirely sure how the system handles that. Is there any correlation to how much battery storage you've used on those days where its wrong?
Maybe the AIO has its own monitoring internally.

Equally I guess you can have some very screwey PV values if you put a hybrid on the PV input as power can be bidirectional then.

As a further aside:
Some time ago, I understood that the graph totals on the portal take the 5 min intervals and make an assumption that it stayed at that level until the next update.
This can be someway off the actual cumulative values inside the inverter/available via GivTCP which have a much faster update.
I guess an easy test as to if that is still happening is to compare a no cloud day (nice smooth curve) with one that has a lot of passing clouds/jitter and see if the accuracy is much better on the cloudless one due to more stable conditions.

geoffreycoan everything was powered down yesterday to switch over to lan from wifi, with how expensive this kit is and it being hooked to grid interval data is unacceptable if the live info is not collected then sent on.

What I've been seeing occasionally (yesterday evening for example) is I end up with missing data for a chunk of time on the Energy Graph (last night was everything after 6pm ish) but I get all the data populated ok for the same period on the Power Graph, meaning it can't be a communication problem as it was obviously able to send the Power data during that interval. In fact I know the AIO was online correctly during that time, I was monitoring it.

To me it looks more like there's an issue on the GE server database side where it's not calculating the Energy totals sometimes despite having the Power values uploaded correctly. But I'm making all kinds of assumptions about how and where they're storing and calculating these values.

Ok so I've now not had any Energy Graph values showing from yesterday (21st) about 6pm and none at all today either. But I have had consistent Power Graph readings all the way through, and the AIO has been connected online fine all that time. Is there an outage on GE's end on their database perhaps? Anyone else had working Energy Graph values for the last 24hrs?

Barns my energy graph is showing fine on the app. I have a hybrid rather than an AIO but if the data gets to the server i can't see the inverter type having an impact.

B
#15 Barns

Phil_H I've just restarted the AIO and now a few (very wrong!) bits of data are starting to appear for 4:30pm onwards today. The values are way out, and nothing at all still for 6pm yesterday until 4pm today, but it does look like something had gone wrong in the AIO processing/uploading data. It'd be useful to be able to see diag logs or something to be able to trace these sorts of issues down; there's no warning until the data is just lost.

Whilst we are on the subject of weirdness does anybody have escalating numbers on the AF descriptions for the connections

Before I switched from wifi to LAN they were in the 300's I think.

I have a card which simply says no data - can anyone help. The pwer card does have data though.....

G
#18 geoffreycoan

ianisbambam If you are getting data on one card but not another it either sounds like a problem with the inverter not sending everything (unlikely) or a problem at the givenergy end. I’d give them a call.
Never heard of this partial data issue in the portal
