Hi all. My inverter has been disconnected from the Wi-Fi since this morning at 3:30 am. The same thing happened 8 days ago at the same time (around about 3:30 am). We've had our inverter for about 6 months now and not had any problems until now. I had to power down the inverter and power back up last week to fix this, but I'm wondering if there's an easier way as one of the strings didn't kick in when I did a restart last week?
Wi-Fi disconnect at 3:30 in the morning
Many routers reboot regularly - often every 24hours, but could be less often. And it could be that the WiFi dongle is not reconnecting afterwards - no reason I can think of off hand, unless one channel is poor where the inverter is and when the router switches to that, it can't see it reliably.
Do you have a Gen 2 (or 3) inverter? If so I think you have the option of hardwiring it. That is always the better option if you can.
Thanks for the reply. It’s really strange as it’s been fine until the past 2 weeks. There is an Eero in the garage and all other WiFi decides in the garage are working fine.
We have a Gen 2 hybrid.
If you have an android phone you can get an app which analysis the wifi networks and you can see how strong the signal is and how many other networks are on the same channel.
Other than that, I've no idea - I have Gen 1 and can only use WiFi (Which has been rock solid for 18months+) despite having a switch in the garage that I could hard wire it too. 🙁
No issues with the WiFi in the garage. The issue is with the built in dongle it seems. I’ll try a reboot and pray that both of the strings start up
Ash Strings starting up has nothing to do with the WiFi - As for no issues with the WiFi - clearly there is otherwise it wouldn't drop off! Would be worth looking at the router settings too to see if it does reboot at 3:30am. If it does, then the issue is related to that, if not it's something else.
I have a WiFi temperature sensor in the kitchen which is unreliable on the network - I moved it a couple of feet and works perfectly.
Does your WiFi on the inverter broadcast the access point? If it does, rather than reboot the inverter, log onto it with a phone of other device and look at the settings and see if you can see if can be rebooted (I don't know about the Gen 2, you can on Gen 1) and even re-set it up to your WiFi - chances are it will be using the 2.4Ghz frequency (Gen 3 I think also works on 5Ghz) - Some people have reported issues with having both 2.4 and 5Ghz operating on the same SSID - have to say I don't.

When we were on holiday earlier this month i noticed there were days when we had no energy data visible in the app or in the web portal. On the first ocassion data lost from about 07:00 - 13:00, it then restored with a little 30min loss about 16:30. Data was then lost again at about 19:00 all the way through to about 09:00 the folowing day. Since then all ok except the odd 30 min of missing data. No real patern. When i got back from holiday i checked my router and that showed it had been up during all that time, so no internet issues. Depedning on your proximity to other properties it could be some device in a neighbouring building re-booting and you get some wifi channel clash which knocks out your inverter connection. I think this is one of the modules they use for wifi (and yes their site only uses http, never a good look for a compnay.)
