After doing some digging this morning after i got a BMS over voltage notification on my inverter this morning i seen a recommended clearance for install being 40cm. My inverter does not meet this clearance at the top of the inverter which may explain it getting a bit hot while charging at around 60deg. Does anyone know if this would invalidate the warranty

wb67 Well, yes. If anything is not installed according to spec than there is a chance the warranty will be voided. However, I don't think over voltage is caused by high temperture and 60deg is not excessive. I also think most of us will have seen a BMS over voltage at some point so it's not terminal. If you keep getting them then it would need investigating and a call to your installers would be your first step. They can call in GE if neccessary. But as I say don't fret until you get repeated notifications.
wb67 There are plenty of us on here who have added forced cooling of the inverter passive heat sink to reduce running temperature. We've also got an extract fan set to remove air above the inverters when internal temperatures reach 45°C.
Tim same here plus it had to be moved to conform to GE instructions. This is supposedly despite the installer sending photos to GE of the original fit. Moving it made no difference to the temperatures. Extractor fan above helped a bit and a small £6 usb fan off Amazon blowing up the back helped better. Both fans run off a plug in stat with the sensor Blu tacked to the hottest feeling bit of the inverter. Max now mostly below 50c
