Hi @TheDragon (GivEnergy) my battery had been working fine, then just dropped to 0% and now isn't being used at all... Any ideas.. EA2303G090

#2 TheDragon (GivEnergy)

Sunshine2348 it's offline.

Will check again tomorrow

TheDragon (GivEnergy) thank you. I can connect to the inverter ok, so I'm not sure how I would make it online again.. If it's still like it tomorrow, let me know what I need to try.. Thanks.

Mine has suddenly stopped discharging also at 2023-09-06 17:24:18 and just shows 0%

I have the following messages in the notifications box

ED2301G217

G
#5 gman86

I restarted the battery by pressing and holding the black button on the right hand side of the battery, waited a few minutes then pressed the black button again to turn back on, its back on 100% again.

Seems strange why it happened?

L
#6 lam22

Yeah exactly the same with mine - been happening very regularly with mine since going to 3013 firmware, 2 9.5 batteries. Charge drops from 100% to 0 and a load of warnings.

Not sure what else to do really - ED2253G119

lam22 do you restart the battery manually each time it happens with the black button on the side or do you wait for it to sort itself out?

Im also on 3013 with a 9.5 battery.

I have read on one of the other posts that there expecting a new firmware update for batteries in october so hopefully that might fix the issue.

Would be good if givenergy could shed some light on this issue because in the "known issues" section on the app it doesnt mention any issues regarding this.

L
#8 lam22

gman86 Yeah the past few times I've restarted the battery (occasionally the battery doesn't respond so have to flip the breakers). This time I've left it as I heard it'll sort itself out after a while. Nothing so far after 6 or so hours though.

Putting the kettle on just draws it from the grid etc.

lam22 If this is really regular, Im interested in your system to test the new version that fix's this.

Please email support@givenergy.co.uk FAO Paul L, BMS 3095 beta testing offer

I will add you to the trial

TheDragon (GivEnergy) When will this new fix be officially released to everyone?

#11 TheDragon (GivEnergy)

gman86 Its hard to say, as this is being tested in as many scenario's as possible, sunny days, AC charging days, different batteries and inverters.
Then over a good few cycles. It will be a few weeks

Sunshine2348 Just happened to me. FA2311F152 No notifications. Pressing battery on/off does not do anything so stuck at 0%SOC and idle battery.

Same for me at 10am precisely. Called my installer and they said it must be something to do with reporting on the GivEnergy portal as no battery could discharge that quickly. However no update from GivEnergy. Inverter FD2250G343

#14 TheDragon (GivEnergy)

petecogle However no update from GivEnergy.

What update would you like Pete?

#15 TheDragon (GivEnergy)

EricIoW

Hi Eric, I will look at this for you, loaded the fix test and its worked, back in the game

TheDragon (GivEnergy) ~

What update would I like? It would be nice if you could confirm that there has been a problem, what it was and when it was fixed, rather than some snarky comment like that. Keeping the customer in the loop is customer support 101.

Obviously it has now been fixed because my battery is showing 99% again.

#17 TheDragon (GivEnergy)

petecogle
No worries.

Noted.
Checked with tech support, and there has been no support ticket raised on your inverter, maybe your installer hasn't done this.

I work in the dev environment, but do come in here periodically

T
#18 thewhalw21

petecogle Totaly agree about keeping the user in the loop, but thats why there is a notifications section on the portal. (Under my inverter). Would be nice if there was a push notification to the app when this happened, but we cant have it all. From my Experience with GE support team they're very quick to repond and great people, think Pauls qustion was more asking what to provide an update on, IE a ticket or previous post. as he said, hes a Dev/Testing guy not support.

Just my 2 cents, Not that anyone asked.

#19 EricIoW

TheDragon (GivEnergy) The fix has caused SOC to go back to 100% but I am drawing 3kW house load as I type and battery is only delivering 300W with 2.5kW from grid.

#20 EricIoW

EricIoW I just realised there were notifications under the inverter tab, Battery Voltage High and BMS Over Voltage. I looked only on the main portal notifications. battery fault code 1024 first then 1026. Battery voltage 56.16 on first error. 59.51 reported after an hour at 0% SOC.

gman86 I can't get my battery to turn off... Have raised a support ticket... I've tried holding the button but lights won't go off...

#22 ProximusAl

Sunshine2348 I had to flick the DC isolator first, then the battery would turn off. It’s the isolator between the battery and the inverter.

S
#23 Sunshine2348

ProximusAl Hi, I tried that but nothing, that thing will not turn off. :-(

I have a feeling that 3013 is causing some issues. Ever the oracle if misinformation (facebook) would suggest 3013 has been pulled as an update on the portal and I've seen a lot of posts last 2 days of batteries getting stuck after getting to 100%. Some resolve with a simple discharge / reset of the battery but others are not so lucky and appear to need a site visit.

hoggy +1

Yesterday I found that the 5.2 battery I had upgraded about 3 weeks ago to 3013 has stopped working https://community.givenergy.cloud/d/3018-erratic-soc-on-3013-frozen-bms - a series of voltage errors then the BMS started reporting fluctuating SoC’s, the battery temperature as -19.1 degrees C, a red light on the front and now it won’t discharge.

My other 9.5 battery I hadn’t upgraded to 3013 yet, but just going into the portal I checking Software Upgrade for that inverter, I am now NOT offered the opportunity to upgrade the BMS. Looks like it has been pulled.

Obviously its very frustrating to have a dead battery and have to wait for an engineer to come and fix it. I’m not criticising GivEnergy over this because they clearly did a lot of prior testing and Beta trials before the upgrade was rolled out, but even with all that it looks like a problem has been encountered. ☹️

#28 hoggy

geoffreycoan ah yes I knew someone on here had it but couldn't remember who! Thanks for confirming that.
Bit of a shame really, I had thought it was always the 9.5 that kept locking up but your 5.2 puts that idea to bed. I'm sure there various BMS revisions (I know mine looks different to the 2+ year newer 9.5s I've seen) & different cells all over the place so I don't envy the FW teams job in the slightest.

You just running without that pack OK or has it wiped out the entire set?
It should hopefully be a 5 min job for the engineer (I believe the fix is basically to sever all Power to the BMS and let it boot from cold)

G
#29 geoffreycoan

hoggy You just running without that pack OK or has it wiped out the entire set?

Fortunately due to the size of my array I have two inverters, one with the 9.5 and one with the 5.2 so the 5.2 going hasn’t affected the 9.5 at all. The 5.2 SoC is still bouncing up and down, it appears to charge but doesn’t discharge so I have set the inverter charge rate to zero so all the solar on that array will be exported today.

Having to stop my flux peak period discharge as I’ve now only got the 9.5 battery to run the house. I did increase the discharge-to SoC yesterday but it still ran out around midnight (flipping kids and their gaming PC’s ….). Hey ho

L
#30 lam22

TheDragon (GivEnergy) Hi - yeah mine has just done it again so I'll ask support to add me to the beta testing offer

P

I just had this issue with my newly installed 9.5 battery. I got an over voltage notification on the dashboard (but not the app). Turning it off and on again seems to have fixed it.

We have only had solar installed for two weeks and this is the second drop out. My wife just did the black button trick mentioned above and it restarted. No real explanation from installer about first time and we can’t see any notifications on app or portal. Battery only gives 300w for periods even when quite full as another poster said and other strange fluctuations seen in data. Not filled with confidence about this decision at present.

S
#33 Spencers

Looks like mine has just done this. A series of 'battery voltage high' and 'BMS over voltage' messages in the portal. The battery temperature had been 26 deg C, then shortly after hitting 27 deg C these errors started.

Not sure if I can get the battery to kick back in by turning it off and on again. Annoying if not as we're currently in peak Flux import charge period, so I won't be happy if it starts taking power from the grid now...

Beginning to wish I hadn't done the 3013 update now. 🙁

S
#34 Spencers

My battery wouldn't turn off by holding the black button on the right side, until I'd flipped the breaker on the left. Initially it had the status LED as red, once restarted the status LED turned green and the App/portal both showed 100% battery again.

Before:

After reset:

From the portal:

L
#35 lam22

Spencers I've had mixed results with manually turning off/on the battery when this happens. Most times I just wait for the voltage to creep down to around 53.6 on the battery in question, at which time it kicks into life again.

My system went live on 6 Sept and I had this issue with my primary battery on Friday. The batteries were at 100% then the primary suddenly showed nothing. I tried to turn it off but like Spencer’s above nothing. I resolved it by turning the secondary off and on and when I tried the primary again the on/off worked. I saw a very good comment that mentioned the SOC readings were not reliable and the voltage is the best indicator. Yesterday the primary was showing 100% and the secondary 94% but the voltage on the secondary was 0.2v higher which showed that really both were at 100%. Great system but these niggles are really irritating.

@TheDragon (GivEnergy)
We have had this issue again on the same battery (FD2321G062). We ran a portable charger on this unit to wake it up which worked but it has since dropped from 100 - 0 again. This happened yesterday and it seemed to sort itself out however it has now done it again.
We are thinking of joining the beta if this is an option to help test a fix.
Is it also an option to revert back to bms 3012 as we have similar systems running on this version with no issues.

Thanks

#38 TheDragon (GivEnergy)

Dualelectrical OK. Send me an email in the morning.

I'll add you to my tracked list.

For now. The batterynis alive again on the new fw

How has the inverter been today? I see the data looks much better

Hi
Yes it seems to be performing well, usually drops as after it hits 100 percent. So fingers crossed it maintains as is.

I've got this issue on my 8.2 battery running 3013, the 9.5 on the same version is fine so far (touch wood). Drops to 0 percent during the charge cycle overnight with an over voltage message. That then clears itself about 6 hours later and everything's fine for the rest of the day until the next charging cycle, been doing this since last week. Just tried resetting it today and that seems to have done the job, but would be good to know if a fix is coming?

#43 TheDragon (GivEnergy)

stanto yes a fix is coming

#44 EricIoW

My battery was updated to a beta firmware on 7/9 because of the 100 to 0% SOC issue.
Since then I have not had that issue, but there are a couple of new anomalies.

  1. At night the SOC slowly decreased to 2%, then using grid power increased to 7% when PV power took over.
  2. With SOC at 7% battery will not provide power to house when needed, it does at 8%.
I cannot find what the BMS firmware vesion is all that is shown on Inverter software is this :

My battery dropped overnight from 48% to 0% in less than an hour with only around 100 watts of load during this time. This battery was supposed to save me money but appears I have been a victim of mis-selling. I wouldn’t mind if this was a one off but, it isn’t.
I have a 9.5 battery running 3013 firmware and would greatly appreciate any advice to resolve the issue. TIA.

Hi Paul
Thanks for upgrading the firmware on this previously, all worked great until yesterday and we seem to have an issue of no volts with 70 % charge not charging or discharging now.
We reset the inverter which hasn't fixed this issue we also spoke to support to see if they could upgrade the firmware to 3015 which we have other batteries on and appears to work well.
Can you please advise the best way forward, happy to stay on the beta version and provide feedback if we can get the system to wake up.

Thanks again.

Derek
