Discharge was to the grid. Home consumption remained minimal overnight. Battery capacity 9.4kWh. Any ideas what can cause this? Thanks.

Also, what firmware are you on (see the MyInverter page on the web portal, software tab on that page).
StrongOrange I have had the same on my AIO unit I concluded that the SOC is screwing up which in turn prevents you from fully charging your battery and the gap between flat and SOC gets bigger and bigger the longer it doesn't happen.
But if you do the math from last full charge and add/subtract charge/discharge for each day it will be accurate, its just a PITA way of doing things which is why the system should use the charge/discharge kwh readings and give you a kwh left not a percentage which is useless.

Took a couple of days for battery to fully charge. (Not enough sun.) Now seems to behave like have come to expect. No more sudden discharges in middle of night. Bit disconcerting though. Have had system for 5 months.
Same for me, I am not happy.
I have an AIO & Gateway since the 17th August and had:-
2 x offline events, it was not the battery as rebooted that twice, it was the Gateway, so had to do a complete house shutdown to reboot everything.
2 x battery from 50-60% to empty in 1 min at random times.
I have complained to GE as this is now impacting my Octopus Flux tariff and is costing me Β£ on extra import that should not have been needed, also if you pay Β£1000βs for a system you do not expect to have these issues, if itβs not working properly they should not have released it when they did. We seem to be the testers, should we get paid for this π
Daveb01 I have found if you do the math you can accurately tell when the battery is going to go flat but that is completely useless if the SOC is off and refuses to let you fully recharge the battery so you are forced to wait for it to tank before you can fully charge then the SOC discrepancy starts ticking up again.
I honestly don't understand how this is this big of an issue, it shouldn't be rocket science and its supposed to be a whole home backup and it crapping out from 60% to flat because you dont let the SOC go to 5% every day is a joke, a very expensive joke for us.
My battery went flat yesterday evening and this morning I put some charge into it on flux period and after about 12 hours there is a 6% discrepancy in seeing how much kwh I got left by subtracting charge from discharge and checking the remaining kwh left against its %age mark when it was charging and when charging around 7kwh was 47% but tonight when I got 7% left it was at 53% remaining.

This thing has been 100% unreliable since I got it.
Jellybaby Did you find it written '60% to flat because you don't let the SOC go to 5% every day'? Can I ask where? Used to be issue with rechargeable batteries that were kept permanently topped up. Impact lifespan of the battery. Thought technology had moved on? If not, why not schedule a reset to a sunny forecast. So the loss made up as inexpensively as possible...
StrongOrange No, just an escalation to me hitting 65% on flux period and after a similar gap between drops it must have gotten up to that point, take a look in this thread here at the bottom post I made, in 1 day I went from 14.1 being 100% to 13 being 100%.

There seems to be a substantial gap that just builds up til you drop at a higher state of charge, someone said its not supposed to be and I quote "mollycoddled" but if the battery can't stay charged at 100% for a few hours each day why even make it?
New finding today, not sure how accurate it is yet.
Charge set to 100% between 2-5 am, however it seems if the AIO gets to 100% before 5 the AIO does not supply the house until 5 am? So have used grid power for nearly 2 hours.



GE replied today, they said:-
The AIO firmware to rectify this issue has been finalized and released.
They will do the install manually.

I tend to set to say 80% to leave room for solar top up and it keeps it at that till the end of the charging period
Daveb01 Hopefully we can attempt to update at a time of our choosing, id like to time it to coincide with flux cheap period since battery likes to calibrate after an update.
Yes they agreed to start at 4 pm or 9 am, I chose 4 pm as would get the most during the discharge on flux. If it takes 2 hrs 30 mins ish to discharge at least I will get the most during the peak period.
I tried 80% however the AIO does not top up with solar to 100%, solar just sends to grid and the battery stays at 80% until it gets dark.
I have to change settings twice a day at the moment, do I or do I not discharge, then the same at night how long do I charge for to get to 100% or 80% then change it to 100% when I wake up for the solar π
You might want to flag that, as I was under the impression the intention for the AIO was to use extra hardware capabilities.

I really can't help feeling that this must be hardware issues with those specific AIO units. I've not seen anything at all similar to these sudden drops and I've been running it in all kinds of ways since July - keeping it full every night, letting it run to empty, keeping it bumping between 40-80%, force charging, only charging from solar - it's all been fine and consistent as far as the SOC level as much as I can tell, certainly no sudden unpredictable drops. Which makes me think it's not a generic issue across all AIO units, it's a problem with particular ones that would need GE to do diagnosis on. I don't see how a firmware update would fix it.
Also are we sure you can simply do charge-discharge to get remaining expected charge? What about the losses (6-7% each direction from my testing and much higher if you're only drawing or charging at low rates ie a few 100W) for the AC/DC conversions, are they on top or included in the figures reported? It's not clear to me.
