Battery suddenly charging and discharging from grid

This is new behaviour and I have not updated anything myself. I have just tried to reset the inverter settings, but I'm not sure if it will fix the issue.

I have the inverter set on eco mode only.

It appears now, that instead of discharging to 4% and not recharging until the sun comes up, the battery is deciding to charge from grid and then discharging it, using up charge cycles, and wasting money from lost efficiency instead of just allowing the grid to be used instead (which was the behaviour until recently).

Why is the inverter suddenly deciding that charging a battery and then discharging from the grid is an efficient use of grid electricity???

This was the behaviour until very recently, notice how the battery did not attempt to charge from the grid

Suggestions are to go to 3012 firmware, but I've not changed it and I've been on that for months now!

I see in remote control options "ac charge" is off but "ac charge upper limit" is 100%

I have set this to 0% so I will see if this fixes anything

Nope, didn't fix it and now it's charging from the grid again. Why does it ignore the setting to not charge from grid?

Do you have a gen 1 inverter?

I had a problem that my inverter lost communications with the battery and had erroneous readings as it happened, turns out that the BMS cable in the bottom of the inverter had come loose. On the gen 1 there’s no clip holding it in place and this may be the cause of signal failures??

I will check it later, though it's worked fine for months with no issues and it's not been disturbed (is in a closet).

I changed the reserve to be 5% and the battery stopped discharging at that point, but even though it wasn't providing any power it still dropped to 1% over a short frame of time...

At this rate this thing will be going back to the supplier 👋

I'm not messing with it and checking the BMS cable myself since it is covered by a shroud, presumably to reduce tension on the cable, so I doubt that is the issue. I will ask the installer to troubleshoot it, otherwise I will be asking for a refund.

If there are no other batteries that are compatible with the inverter, I think I'll ask this to be removed as well. I only bought it and went with GivEnergy because I thought it would be possible to use various battery manufacturers, but the more I learn about it the less this seems the case...

If you set your reserve to 8% it will stop that behaviour. It was driving me nuts.

Hook Shouldn't have to do this. I think I will return it if this is the solution. Mis-selling!
