On Tuesday coming Scottish Power are coming to install a Smart Meter. Do I need to switch off the DC and AC switch on my GE Inverter/battery PV array etc? While they are dismantling an ancient clockwork White meter controller ( formerly switching storage heaters) and the current electronic meter that logs my Economy 7 usage?

Anything special I should check eg is it def SMETS2 type etc

billG it’s probably recommended especially if there isn’t a separate switch after the meter.

Also, if the CT clamp for your system is in the same location, take a photo of it before they arrive. Just to make sure it ends up on the right wire and also pointing in the right direction (little arrow on it) after they’ve done!

TX200 Good Idea about the photo! Thanks Bill G

billG there should be a warning sticker in the meter box warning that there’s solar pv on the roof and to turn it off before working on the meter

And definitely second what TX200 said about the CT clamp. My eon installer fitted it the wrong way round, despite taking a photo, which caused the battery to never charge up
