I have a 5kw gen 2 inverter, and have experienced problems with the WiFi dongle. I wonder if it is possible to set up a wired network connection? I know the gen 3 version provides an ethernet port, but the gen 2 devices don't seem to have this.
My idea is to plug a usb to ethernet adapter into the USB port currently occupied by the dongle, then connect that directly to my router with a Cat 5 ethernet cable. Would this work? Has anyone tried it?

I thought the gen2 had an ethernet port, but maybe I'm wrong.
The plan of using usb to ethernet wouldn't work, as the dongle is the brains, not just a WiFi access point.

Gen 2 has Ethernet. Mine is connected to my LAN.
OK, if the gen2 does have an ethernet connection, where is it? I had a good look underneath and couldn't see it anywhere.
Once I find it, do I just connect it up to the router, or is there some sort of set up procedure?
Its inside the inverter & there's some DIP switches need setting. Installer manual (over on the knowledge base site) has the details.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. After many attempts, I have got the wifi dongle set up correctly again, and the comms is working normally, so I'm not going to mess with it unless (until?) it goes wrong again.
For what it is worth, the reason why the dongle wouldn't connect was that the Working Mode Configuration was set to AP Mode, not STA Mode. I have no idea how this happened, but once I'd noticed it, and restored the correct value, the set up procedure worked, and the inverter communications were restored.
