I want my battery to charge during my cheap energy period and then discharge during my high use period. I turned Eco off and then program the settings for charge/discharge. Again, when I looked at the app this morning it had turned on Eco and disabled my charge setting, leaving my battery at 4%. I am becoming very tired of finding this happening and it is costing me money. I noticed checking through the Forum and found the same problem raised in 2022.
Why does a company offer the client options to control settings and then continually override them.
Would welcome any suggestions.
Tired of resetting options in Givenergy app.
Is it because you turned on timed discharge?
If so, reset to defaults, turn eco on if not already. Set the timed charge to on, set a percentage (probably 100% this time of year), set the timed charge start and stop times. Don't touch timed discharge or timed export.
The above should do what you want.
If you want something more complex, then might be best to explore external automation opportunities such as home assistant.
Have a look at my post in this thread five days ago:

Do you have any automations set up anywhere ? There's a log on the portal that shows any changes made via the cloud, including the official app, though it doesn't show any local changes. Does that show anything?
The app doesn't talk about "eco mode". It separates charging and discharging behaviours, and calls it "dynamic" discharge mode.

Thank you for comments. SilverArt looked at your post and I see your reasoning. However, as I have pointed out to Givenergy, why have a discharge option which the customer is unable to use. My cheap tariff is between 23.30 and 05.30 and I only wish to discharge between 16.00 and 21.00 to my home. I assume, using your settings, Eco will continue discharging to the home until it gets to the start of the charging period. This would deplete the battery more than required.
TX200 I am having a look at HA but I feel I should not have to if the Givenergy software worked as it should.
There is one possible solution if you are an Octopus customer. They have an R&D website and this allows you to control the Givenergy battery. Their Charge/discharge setting appears to disable Eco and you set your own requirements. If this works ok I shall not bother with the Givenergy settings.
dmhome one simple solution could be to set end charge time to 16:00 - this keeps battery on hold until 16:00 - you do not need to set discharge start end times - just leave as Dynamic (Eco mode). The battery would then discharge and just meet house demand until it starts charging again. The only problem I see with this is if you have lots of batteries and do not get to 100% during your cheap rate period. If so, set the % charge appropriately to avoid non off-peak prices.
No doubt given the number of inverter versions and also firmware versions this might not even work for you. It would work on my setup. I have Gen 2 5kW inverter and 8.2kWh battery.
dmhome This would deplete the battery more than required.
You probably have your reasons but I'm not sure why there is a need to avoid battery usage for that 2.5hr period. I can certainly appreciate why you want to make sure you have a full battery at 16:00 but I can't see a benefit in not using whatever is left after 21:00 as that is effectively off-peak electricity.
Equally if you typically have say 1kWh left in your battery at 21:00 why not actually start letting it be used at 15:00, that way the house benefits from any solar during that time rather than exporting it.
That said, I certainly think that the GE ability to provide controls abysmal but I can also see the bigger picture of the challenges they may face. I just wonder if the tie up with Axle Energy may be beneficial in this area?
dmhome I think the timed discharge doesn't work on certain inverters/firmware. I know the timed discharge my AIO works fine and goes back to Eco mode afterwards.
Pandorian
Correct does NOT work on my Gen1 Hy5.0.
I had to go to Home Assistant
dmhome Are you aware that timed discharge dumps the power at max rate? Eco discharges based on the load. With discharge set to say 3kw and the house only pulling 1kw, you would be sending 2kw to the grid. Is this your intention?
MarkyG82 As far as I understand if you set the output to Home Use in the app. it will feed the home and any power left in the battery it will remain there.
dmhome not with timed discharge, that's a command to dump the battery, regardless of load. Eco mode follows the load.
im tired of restarting the AIO unit itself every week due to comms dropping out
Jellybaby
Where are comms dropping out.
Does AOI have LAN connection.
Is it signal from your phone on your wifi not getting to your router then to AOI?
Is it internet and signal not getting through from GivEnergy servers?
Go to Home Assistant. Your server in your house on your network!

I have the AIO and it seems that when I set my preferred charge time (octopus Go - so 00:30 - 04:30) on the GE app - it sticks. But if I open the web dashboard (and go nowhere near the settings page) - the charge time will change to 13:30 to 15:30. Infuriating.
SteveCook I have LAN connection, I can connect to the AP and browse the internet on the AIO when the comms drop but access to the AIO settings and any portal info is just dead, I don't have HA running anymore as I don't have something yet low power I can run it on but when this happened before HA could see it on the network but no info.
I have to press power button on side of AIO then let it power back up to restore comms.
