Selling House - can the new owner keep the data from last 2 years?

I am moving house in January so what's the process for assigning over the account to the new owner?
It would be useful if they didn't lose all the data on the system whilst in my ownership, can it be handed over too?

I have wondered about this, as we may be selling our house in the near future. My thought was to update the account to a new email address along the lines of houseorstreet@whatever.com and then hand over the login for that email address at sale.

They can change the password once they have access?

I would have thought that would be all you need, the data is stored against the dongle number so as long as they can sign in that should be fine. as far as i know!

And perhaps print out the "how to change the WiFi on the dongle" guide. 🤣

There this small thing called GDPR. GE should not be giving your data to your next house owner.

just out of curiosity, why are you not taking the inverter and battery and panels with you?

deepanshus Good question! We basically agreed it would stay with the house. It's difficult to argue if we got a better price because it was there though!?
Plus, it would leave a right mess taking all the electrics out.

JimMarr I'm afraid not. GE cannot pass your data to another individual regardless if you consent or not.

GE are supposed to setup a new account for the new owner & transfer warranty etc.

Best to email support to get it sorted.

Vestas I was going to suggest making a new email addres then giving the password to them, but it's more important to properly preserve the warranty.

In that case, can you download the data to cvs or xls and give it to them?

Its simply that a company processing users' data can't hand over one individual's data to another completely unrelated individual. There's no guarantee what would happen to the data and any company doing it would be liable for the consequences.

Edit - I think there's something in the warranty pack which tells you how to transfer the system to a new owner.
