We had a smart meter fitted today, and now the inverter has entered a cycle of charging the battery from the grid to 100%, then discharging all of that energy back to the grid. It is dark, so there is no solar input. How do I reset the inverter to stop this happening?
Disruption after fitting a smart meter
Sounds like the installer has moved or reversed the CT clamp that the inverter uses to measure current?
Thanks for this, but I am not sure what to do about it. Can it be reversed back again?
Jacqui You should be able depending on the CT clamp open it up, flip it over then clip it back on, if you are not comfortable with this then they would have to come out pronto to sort it.
Jellybaby Thanks - looks like I need to get someone out to fix it pretty quickly.
Jacqui It should be a super quick fix so they should be able to get someone out same day, if not tell them you will file a complaint as they have rendered your equipment useless and cba to sort it pronto
Do search for EM115
It'd probably be helpful just to shut the inverter down if Jacqui isn't happy about turning the current clamp around then turn it on after its been sorted 🙂
Installers should have left docs telling you how to do this....
look at the pictures in here

Thank you so much everyone who has answered on this stream. The engineers are coming out and Octopus will refund for the excess electricity. It was so very useful to be able to point the finger at the CT clamp in my conversations with them. Hopefully it will all be sorted soon. 🙂
