Givenergy say that batteries connected in series should always have the largest capacity as the master. As the 8kwh is now discontinued according to suppliers across the country, does that mean adding a new 9kwh means a messy rewire to try to swap the order of batteries?
Its controlled by dip switch settings in the battery, AFAIK
That's correct thanks, but in the training givenergy said that the largest battery should be master followed by smaller batteries as slaves. As the 9kwh is larger than any existing batteries and the 8kwh is end of life, do we have to swap things about if we're expanding the overall capacity of the system?
jd No, I think @Zakalwe has the answer. The existing wiring could remain; the new battery daisy-chained to the existing battery by the DC connections and the Modbus cabling also extended. The existing battery would have it's DIP switch tweaked to make it a slave device and the new higher capacity battery would be the master (DIP switches all set to zero).
Yes, but it doesn't say anything about the wiring of the batteries. I imagine it's like in the days of IDE hard disk drives...youbhad to have one master on the IDE bus and then up to 3 slaves. Changing jumper positions on each individual drive designated which was master and slaves.
