Recently (in 2024 i think) my GiveEnergy App refuses to give me a "home" connection, even if i am next to router in the house.

Scanning for my inverter in the settings doesn't work. I tried adding the IP address of the wifi dongle in settings too without success.

I am currently just using the away connection which refreshes every 5 minutes. settings changes and wonderwatt calls are being actioned just fine so do we know why the "Home" connection is not working?
I'm on Android and the app version no is V3.3.7.5131

Any advice is much appreciated.

similar problem .. was working .. noticed that from time to time the IP address changes fr some reason .. manually changing it did work .. it no longer does .. can't see what the issue is or how to fix it

davidS IP address changing is usually down to your router, unless you specifically tell it to assign XYZ IP to a device it will just allocate them randomly each time the lease comes up.

If this is the case, I would recommend you assign a static IP address to the dongle (Google your router model + assign static IP) and then make sure the same IP is in the app, that might do the job.

bolo have you tried deleting the app cache and trying again?

The inverter will be using DHCP to ask your router for an IP address. Ideally, if you can, on the router you can tell it to always assign the same IP address. Exactly how you do that will depend on the router. If you can give the router model, or maybe even just your broadband provider, someone may be able to help further with that. Once the IP address is fixed, you can set that in the app.

You could try the third-party app which also connects directly to the inverter, to see if that works:

Also, sometimes, its just life. One 'fix' can be to unintsal and reinstall the App. A pain, but with software sometimes it is necessary - if not what you would hope for.
I use the App with a fixed IP and it works generally well on two phones and a tablet (Android 14 and 10). Occasional hiccup, for me, means just closing the App and reopening.
