Hello all, now we have solar generation during the evening peak export time, as the battery is nearly full is it possible to stop the battery charging and send the solar to the grid.
Stop charging and export solar
JWsol One simplest way to force solar generation to go to the grid is to set the inverter charge rate to zero in the app, then set it back again afterwards - before next morning or overnight charge.
Unfortunately this can’t be automated in the app, you’d need home assistant or another automation solution to do that
geoffreycoan thank-you for that, I thought there may be a better way, as I would also like the car to stop solar charging, as its a lot cheaper to charge from the grid. I have set a timer for now.
JWsol You can use the timed-pause facility. Not available on the app, but you can set one period during the day when the battery is paused from charging, discharging, or both. On some inverters, even setting charging power to 0, iit still charges at around 300W or so. The timed-pause does reduce it down to 0.
(As the battery fills up, it will send extra to the grid anyway.)
Because there's a minimum rate at which you can charge a car (6A, or about 1.5kW), there's a case for letting the car charge in the middle of the day, and then letting the house battery charge nearer the end of the afternoon, when the power is dropping off again. So eg could configure the timed pause to be from noon to 2pm every day, that sort of thing.
Sorry, misread: you don't want the car to charge from solar. What model of chargepoint do you have? Are you on IOG?
Tha k you for your reply, I have found the most reliable way to get a 32A charge, us to let the car control the charging overnight. I will wait for the car and charger to get software updates as they are both new products.
