Battery Discharge

I have a cheap EV tariff and want the to only pull from the grid during certain times. My system though is pulling from the battery first even when switching on the scheduled discharge mode? Anyone know how to do this?

What equipment are you using? Batteries and EV charger.

But I do not think you can do what you wish just using the Givenergy system or at least if it is a DC-coupled battery system. If it is an AC-coupled battery you may be able depending on the type of charger place a CT clamp between AC output from the battery feed to the house to prevent battery discharge when using the charger.

I have no experience in doing this but I did read about it when looking for a similar solution in the instructions for my Myenergi Zappi charger. My battery system is DC-coupled anyway via a Givenergy hybrid 5.0

Sills23 simplest is to configure battery to charge during the cheap rate. Another option is just use a timed pause, so that house also runs from grid during the cheap rate.
If you're on IOG, it's a little more complicated, since there may be bonus cheap periods, but that's unpredictable. Could just ask for car to be ready by 0530 to try to prevent bonus periods. What I do is reduce discharge power from 0530 to 0700 - enough to cover base load, but if car charges, it won't take much from the battery.
(Or, as above, arrange CT clamps such that GE system simply doesn't see the car chargepoint. But not if you have the GE chargepoint, of course.)

Shouldn't be necessary to go to 100% - once it reaches whatever limit you set, it will hold charge until the end of the timed period.

DD True it is not necessary but its what I do in the winter to get the battery charged for the next day and that way I do not have to think how much I need to get the house through the high tariff 17-hour window. If 100% is too much it just means it charges less the next night.
