Firmware update for wifi dongle set discharge mode to scheduled?

We came home this evening to find the battery unexpectedly at 99%. Looking at the logs, the battery has not been discharging all day, as it's set to Scheduled discharge from 00:00 to 00:00. It's been working just fine till today. Looking at the log, there was a firmware update on the wifi dongle at 09:05 today, after which the battery stopped discharging. I'm not impressed that an unexpected firmware update effectively switched off our battery and caused us to use grid power at the most expensive part of the day.

I can't find any listing of what the firmware changes are. Can anybody point me in the right direction? I'm hoping they have closed the gaping security holes of default unsecured passwordless Access points etc, plus the ability to switch WiFi off when using LAN.

Anyone know what was in the WiFi dongle update?

It isn't a 'gaping security hole' it's how you get to it to perform initial configuration. It you or your installer don't configure it, that's down to you...

Did anyone get the Dongle firmware update using the GivInstaller app to work?
I have Gen1 Hy5.0.
I put app on the phone. I took the little plastic cover off the bottom of the external dongle and followed app instructions and pressed the reset button for 15 secs.
I scanned the inverter barcode and the app read it in.
The next button just sat doing nothing .
All that happened was this all appeared to have factory reset my dongle and I had to follow the whole setup procedure from scratch.
Pretty poor if you ask me. There is no way to tell what firmware version the dongle is on, so how do you know if you need an update!

I than logged into the dongle with my laptop. There is nothing that tells me what firmware version it is on.
I found various dongle firmware downloads on the GivEnergy website. I downloaded them.
I tried to install a firmware file but that failed eveytime.
I think the dongle is looking for an image file, but none of the GivEnergy stuff is an image file.
Do they "test" any of this stuff before pushing it out?

SteveCook If you were trying to perform an update via the Dongle Device Management page, then the only update I am aware of that loads this way is the eCos.img update, which is a network stability upgrade. Caveat, I'm not an installer, so proceed with any changes at your own risk. I've just posted similar but slightly more detailed info here, in response to another of your posts:

Thanks. I logged into the dongle on my laptop and successfully updated the image file, but following the GivInstaller app "Update Dongle" still eludes me.
Has anyone got it to work?
What does it do
