For a couple of nights I have seen my inverter fail to start force charging the battery at 00:30
It was working fine earlier and I was tweaking the %age to fill-up too.
The lightning indicator on the unit is flashing green but there are no entries in the notification log
All attempts to restart it from the dashboard seem to be accepted by do nothing
Attempting to reset settings to default give an error
If I leave it then it is back to solid green in the morning and charging the battery from the PV but it failed to charge anything from supply. The forced charging is also set back to off (this could have been the setting reset request)
Is there a way to restart the inverter manually?

mrand31 I would if I knew how 🙂 There is a large black on/off rotary knob underneath but that does not seem to turn it off
sammackrill This link gives a procedure in section 8.
Basically, you have to isolate the inverter from all sources of energy, preferably when there is no load (my comments in brackets):
8.2 Disconnecting the Inverter
- Disconnect the AC circuit breaker and prevent it from being reactivated (This isolator should have been labelled by the installer and is usually coloured red).
- Disconnect the Battery breaker and prevent it from being reactivated. (Although I would turn off the battery first by pressing the button at the top of the right hand side of the battery case for about ten seconds until it switches off. This would ensure that the breaker was carrying no load when it was switched off. The battery breaker should also have been be labelled by the installer and the Givenergy one is coloured green).
- Turn off the PV switch (If you have separate DC PV isolators to the side of the inverter which should have been installed and labelled, turn these off first and then the DC PV isolator on the underside of the inverter. These isolators are usually coloured black)
- Check the inverter operating status.
- Wait until LED display have gone out, the inverter is shut down.
Start up would be:
8.1 Start-Up the inverter
- Connect the AC circuit breaker
- Turn on the DC switch (I would then turn on the separate DC PV isolators to the side if fitted),
- Turn on the battery breaker (and then the battery itself by pressing the button at the top of the right hand side of the case).
- The inverter will start automatically when the PV voltage is higher than 150V.
the battery voltage is higher than 46.4V. (this is a copy and paste from the manual, so maybe its should say "or the battery voltage ...")
Another thing that has been suggested to help reduce energy throughput prior to switching off the inverter is to remotely reduce the Inverter Max output Active Power percent to 0% in the "My Inverter" Remote Control portal, before going to your installation, and setting it back to 100% (or whatever you want it at) after it has been restored to service.
Tim Thanks, bit more involved that expected.

When doing electrical training, any device with more than 1 power source is classed as complex rather than simple, and this inverter has 4 power sources (AC grid, DC solar PV, DC battery along with internal storage in the capacitors, hence the wait for the LED display to go out).
Also a good idea to use the inverter electronics to reduce the current passing through each isolator before switching them off. Just good practice to be considerate to the isolators, rather than switching under load which they are not designed for.
Thanks, I can at least manage to do a hard restart now. However my problem persists. I notice that it will start flashing at around 11pm and go solid again at around 2am. However it is working in that the forced battery charge happens. When it is flashing the app shows Inverter: WAITING and the data on the portal is incorrect (e.g. battery shows as flat) and next day the data is there as expected.
