I have 5kw Hybrid Gen1 inverter and 3 x 8.2kw Gen1 batteries with 8kw pv solar

I'm on Agile tariff for import and fixed export.

Agile seems to offer import prices sub-15p consistently.

I'm wondering if its possible to force 100% of PV solar production to be exported? I use the Givenergy app and wonderwatt app to manage

Tim Adams Yes, I do that. Just reduce charging power to 0 ?

(Well, not 100% of PV - the house will take what it needs first.)

On newer hardware, reducing charging power to 0 doesn't seem to go below around 250W. Can use timed-pause feature to drop it much lower, but I don't think gen-1 firmware has the timed-pause option. (Maybe the very latest firmware currently being tested ?)

One thing to watch for is clipping: if solar exceeds AC capacity, and you don't allow inverter to put excess into the battery, it will have to curtail generaton. In practise, I run a monitoring script which adjusts max charging power when AC charging is getting close to the max.

DD thanks - i guess that's the best option for now. but with Agile offering cheap rates in daytime too it seems hard to fully automate. Maybe something WonderWatt could control..

Good point about clipping. In fact not much of an issue for me as 2kw is on a separate inverter so only 6kw panels on Givenergy.... so very rare issue.

Tim Adams I think many here use 'predbat' on Home Assistant for this sort of thing. It is aware of import and export prices and tweaks your inverter to maximise profit.
But wonderwatt may also be able to do this.

(I haven't tried either.)

The latest Gen 1 firmware 191/193 (not yet publicly available) does offer timed pause capability as well. It doesn’t seem to pause 100%, seems to leak about 20W when paused whereas setting the battery discharge rate to zero does stop discharging completely on my gen 1.

As others have said, to make best use of Agile it needs some form of battery automation. Predbat with Home Assistant is very powerful and runs locally so no internet dependency but requires a PC or Raspberry Pi running all the time, Wonderwatt or MyEnergyOptimiser are cloud based alternatives.

It doesn't on mine with 191/193. Pretty sure its been mentioned by others too, so what you're seeing may be specific to your dual-inverter setup.

Vestas I’ll have to do some more testing. Setting the discharge rate to zero DID stop any discharge when that was the only way to stop discharging on 450/451.

But now on the latest firmware 191/193 predbat is using PauseDischarge which I’ve noticed is still discharging at 20W. I’d assumed that setting discharge rate alone still worked, but maybe this is a side effect of the new firmware as it operates much more like the gen 2 and 3?

As of today, in 2026, is there an effective way to configure for all solar generation to be exported to the grid?

Ideally this scenario: battery to cover house load exclusively, with all solar being exported to grid (no solar being used to cover house load).

One option if your inverter supports it, is to set battery pause mode to Pause Charging so the battery can’t charge from solar. Your house will then run off solar and battery, but any solar generation will firstly be used to power the home and not be exported.

Second option is to additionally set a slow rate discharge on your battery, at whatever level is your average house load, that way whatever you set the discharge level at will be used to power the home with any excess solar being exported

Don’t forget that you need to consider round trip battery losses (10-20%) when figuring out whether it’s financially worthwhile to use your battery over exporting. Low rate discharge does proportionally increase the conversion losses.

Surely once the energy is in the battery, the losses are inevitable, whether the subsequently generated AC goes to consumption or export. Though I hadn't thought much about generation losses Vs output power. I assume very high power has high losses (resistive losses) but I suppose there's a certain overhead from having the generation circuit powered up at all, so very low power means losses are relatively high. I assume it's powered up most of the time anyway in order to be able to respond quickly to a load exceeding solar?

I can perhaps go back through logs to see how it all relates.

ChrisLav I've never seen any effect from that one (Hybrid gen-3 inverter).

ChrisLav Its unsupported at this time - ie doesn't work on production firmware.
