We had a prolonged power cut yesterday, and I remembered that the Gen 2 has a backup power output which we didn't get connected at commissioning,
My plan is to just wire it into a new 13A RCD/socket and manually run an extension lead from garage to house to power essential stuff when required.
I'm happy doing basic electrics, but is this DIYable on the inverter side or does it need something commissioning?
rjp I was in a similar situation and had the wiring done separately for an EPS fuseboard (the fusebox in the garage only has a few ring mains and lighting circuits on it, the kitchen is off a separate spur).
I then had my installer connect it up to the inverter when he was over doing something else.
I thought there was a setting that had to be made on the commissioning portal to say you have an EPS, but a givenergy engineer who subsequently replaced my inverter under warranty said that there isn't.
HOWEVER you do need to put an earth spike in and connect it to the new socket as the inverter won't supply Earth when it goes into backup mode. Diagrams for the different options of setting up the EPS are in the inverter docs in the knowledgebase
Whether you feel confident DIYing it yourself, up to you
It does need commissioning to record changes and should only be done by a GivEnergy approved installer for this reason too.

Adam-Reynolds thanks for confirming Adam, that was my expectation as well and was part of why I had my EPS done by my installer when they commissioned a new battery for me.
