New Inv Firmware D0.915-A0.915 & Battery only charging to 90%

I invoked the new firmware download from my Portal for my Gen 2 3.6 Hybrid Inverter yesterday.
The batteries (2 x 9.5kWh Gen 2) automatically charged last night as usual & despite be set to charge to 100% SOC they only got as far as 90% in the 6hr cheap rate window. After a timed export the batteries started at 9% SOC at 11.30pm last night & topped out at 90% at 4.45am (I'm on IOG). 6 hrs should have been plenty enough time to charge 2 x 9.5kW batts up to 100% so is the new firmware limiting the max SOC?

Early sun this morning topped up the battery charge to 100% but why did the batteries not charge fully with the new firmware. Anyone else had a similar experience?

Edit for above. Solar is topping out at 97% battery SOC & not 100% as stated above.

The new firmware reduces the charge current above 90% charge probably to avoid potential over-voltage notifications but also to "gently shunt into the buffers" so to speak (you can see that in your chart). It does reach 100% or very nearly but you'll need more than the 6 hours of charging for this. Can you increase the charge current before 90% is reached or are you at the limit of the inverter or batteries?

Windy Miller I'm at the limit of my 3.6kW inverter & I don't want to charge outside of the 6hr cheap rate window on IOG. Guess I'll have to put up with less than advertised capacity.

CGoode I guess this is why some have gone with 2x AC coupled inverters each with a single large battery. The charge time would halve as a result. My system has 2x 5.2KWHr batteries on a single AC coupled inverter and a 3 hour charge window also now gets me to 90% where I used to get 100%. Perhaps you might gain more from one of the other tariffs with more charging hours? Probably won't be worth it though as your only looking to get back that last 10%.

Windy Miller As far as I know Intelligent Octopus Go has the longest off peak window of 6hrs @7.5p/kWh which is what I'm on right now. I am also limited to a G98 max 3.6kW export limit so anything larger than this would require a G99 or better certification by our DNO (National Grid) which currently is very unlikely. It's strange to me that we are limited to exporting 3.6kW back to the grid via the inverter when we can pull in excess of 14kW from the grid (car charger, Inverter to batteries, appliances etc).
Based on discussions I've had with NG our local sub Station is just about maxed out already. If anyone else in our road wants to have solar or car chargers (& there ain't that many that have them so far) then the Sub Station will have to be upgraded & the mains cable in the street dug up & replaced with a larger one. All of our 1985 built houses only had 60amp incoming supplies. Also, most of the houses (mine included) had looped supplies served by a common mains cable for both houses. To get my car charger fitted I had to have National Grid unloop the connection between my house & my neighbour & run in a new cable in from the street to my neighbours house. They also had to upgrade the main cut off fuse from 60 to 80amp. Thankfully no cost to me or my neighbour who was OK with having part of his driveway dug up just so we can charge an EV at home!

CGoode Yes - my son is on that tariff with a single 9.5KWHr battery on his 3.6KW inverter also as G98. He manages to fully charge in the 6 hours because he has just the one battery. It's incredibly annoying to find you can't maximise your hardware because of all these limits - G98, 3.6KW, 90% charge limits etc. I was considering another battery at one point giving me 3x 5.2 but I'm glad I didn't because I couldn't be sure I could use the 3rd battery completely (and also I haven't heard of anyone with 3 batteries on the 1 inverter). My solar inverter is a Solaredge 6KW so I did manage to get a G99 connection although our house, like yours has a 60A connection but built in the 70's. No car charger yet but I wonder if I'll also have to have an upgraded connection when I do.

CGoode - I was just about to kick off and update to take me from D0.913-A0.913 to D0.915-A0.915 as I also have a 3.6 kW Hybrid with 2 x 9.5 kWh batteries. Like you I use Intelligent Octopus Go and rely on getting the batteries fully charged up to 100% in that time (even more important for the winter and my ASHP!).

Have you received any confirmation from GivEnergy that they are purposely limiting the Timed Charge to 90%? Can it be overridden somewhere or should I just stay on 913?

DarrenA I have not got any confirmation from GE that they are limiting battery charging to 90%. However, it does seem coincidental that previous to the the last firmware update I was getting regular Over Voltage errors towards the end of battery charging overnight. After the firmware update these have largely stopped.
Below is a graph from my last nights charge which is timed to stop at 05.50am. At 03.35am the battery hits 88% & the charging rate drops off & the battery maxes out at 91% until 08.00am when solar input increase the battery charge up to 100% at 09.20am. Solar keeps the battery topped & exporting excess to the grid until 07.00pm when I have a timed battery discharge scheduled back to the grid. This finishes at 11.00pm or when the battery gets to 10% ready for the battery re-charge cycle which starts at 11.30pm. No EV charging last night.
It's all a bit weird. I do think the latest firmware on my Gen 2 3.6Hy Inverter is designed to soften & limit the max charge rate when batteries reach 90% which, is a real pain because the system cannot export any excess back to the grid until it gets to 100%. I've checked all my setting to see if there was a stray 90% max charge battery setting but I couldn't find one.
Any additional info from anyone would be very welcome.

It looks like it still might be charging at 05:50 (though very slowly) when the timer ends - as an experiment, have you tried extending the time window to see what happens ? Or not dumping so much back to the grid in the evening, so that you're starting from a higher SoC ?

Can you add battery voltage to that chart ?

DD Ok. Battery voltage added to the chart.
I've not tried altering any time schedules because it took me ages to get them set up without them cancelling the Eco Mode, which was a previous issue when setting via the App. I only use the Remote Control via the Portal now.
