Does anyway know how Octopus work in regard to Being paid any credit from there Flux export.
i think i have done everthing to get it to work, but it appears they do not want to credit me with any energy i send back to the grid.
I have a full battery and and several Kw of power spare going to the grid, but i get nothing back.
Am i missing something out to make this work.
any advise would be much appreciated

You have applied for and got an export MPAN from your DNO right ?

And applied for an export tariff from Octopus?

Maz I assume that, for you to be on that tariff, octopus have accepted that you have solar, and that you have an mpan set up for export.

Does your export show up on your octopus online account? Are they actually refusing to pay (without saying why), or just haven't yet got round to paying?

I think I did have to prod them for the first couple of months when the exports weren't credited on my statements, but that was quickly corrected and now it's all automatic.

Yes as far as i know everthing should be set up, they have all the information you mentioned, its just that i,m exporting several Kwh on a fine day but getting nothing back for it, maybe it takes time to filter through.
thank you both for trying to help me understand it.
There's another question you may be able to help with, on a fine day and my battery is full, do i get credit for exporting any surplus energy back to the grid any time of the day?.
Cheers
John

The actual payment should appear in your Octopus monthly bill as a credit. Sometimes, it's few days late. You should see the daily kWh exports in Octopus a day or so after they happen under My Energy. You should have a graph for Electricity, a graph for Electricity Export and one for gas if you have gas with Octopus. I can typically see the credit in the balance history before they generate the pdf bill.

Yes. The rate varies on flux tariff, so it depends on time of day. It's highest between 4pm and 7pm, or something like that.

I realy do appreciate your time to give me good advise, and do not want to be a pest, could i just ask one more question
regarding power cuts,
I have been told by my installer that when i get power cut i will be in a total blackout even though i have a full battery.
I thought the solar system took over automaticaly, but apparently i've been told no it does not, i need a EPS
(Emergency Power Switch) installing, i can have a manual or an automatic one at a price of £1750, i am not sure if this includes instation as well, is this what it costs, it seems very expensive to me.
Thank you
John

If you have an AIO, you can have a "gateway" which I believe does the automatic switchover. I have no idea of pricing.

For other systems, the inverter can make power available on its EPS output port, but you have to do a bit of rewiring of your house consumer unit, and add an earth rod, to actually be able to use it. (Actually, I think AIO Gateway also requires an earth rod ?)

We have a gen2 5Kw inverter and have had a feed from the EPS connections on the inverter to a dedicated socket with integrated RCD protection which cost us around £400 fully fitted (including earth rod as DD said). This does not supply the whole house but will provide power for essentials in a power failure.
Do you have the Octopus energy App, if so can you see export and import values for your electricity?

Can you logon to your Octo account and make sure they are getting half hourly readings.
I was on Flux last year and my meter stopped half hourly comms with Octo (who did nothing to rectify for 6 months even though I told them), so half hourly readings were not possible and by Oct 2023 Octo wanted to bill me the "missing" 6 months at standard import and only pay me standard export.
I downloaded all the EM115 data, populated the correct rates and had a huge row with them as they said "we do not accept 3rd party data". I said "lets see what the Ombudsman says. I have provided some data, you have provided none". We agreed a resolution. https://community.givenergy.cloud/d/2881-report-data-download-as-excel-file/62
I then carried on with the Ombudsman about why after 4 years my smart meters were still dumb. Octo finally got someone internally (Carla) who spoke sense and she got a combined GSM/RF comms hub with antenna fitted. Worked straight away
