My Gen2 5Kw hybrid inverter has failed to update it's ARM software to A0.915. this is the second time and I have to get the ARM software file sent to me so I can install it locally.
How many of you have the same problem with having to update locally and have you managed to overcome this?
Local software update as remote update failed.
2 out of 3 different updates have failed for me and last time quite a struggle to get corrected. It took most of the day to do.
The only way I have found to not have issues is to not update. I am only going to do it on instruction from Givenergy if I have an issue.
Never have managed to get an OTA update done - have always dropped a file sent to me by support onto the memory sticks which works fine. No idea why.
Just OTA upgraded my Gen2 successfully. Now to wait and find out if anything's not working right...
rjp Hmm. Lost comms to the inverter completely for 6 hours yesterday. Inverter was still running, but no data updates in either portal or HA. Very strange!
Ortwin I tried to upgrade gen-3 hybrid last night and it failed a couple of times. First time it tried for about 20 minutes then gave up. Second attempt the progress bar kept restarting each time it reached around 30%. That lasted for probably an hour before I restarted the inverter. (I was trying to time calibration to hit cheap period.)

You might need to use a USB A to A cable and clear the (inbuilt gen 3) dongle of corrupt files. Seems to happen randomly albeit consistently on most update cycles.
(PS - I've not forgotten about the modbus library, just not had a minute since I got back!)

I did notice that, soon after pressing the upgrade button, it said "formatting dongle", so I assumed that would be getting rid of old rubbish.
I see from the release notes that they've now "optimised" removal of firmware files post update.
I always seem to need to update the batteries manually
I don't use a dongle as I have a LAN connection. When doing the remote upgrade for the ARM file it went from 0-6% then jumped to 68% and seemed to stay there for ages the was cleaning up the files and failed. Sticking in the USB stick and setting the jumpers took seconds and the update was done in about a minute. Luckily my inverter is on an outside wall so don't have to go in the loft each time.
I noticed there is an inverter update to 920 yesterday and as usual only the D side updated. Retried it a couple of times and still no joy. So emailed GE support and awaiting the ARM fíle to updated locally. Why don't GE technical automatically send out the update file to customers with known updating issues or replace the inverter under warranty?
Apparently the files are accessible on the installers web page which we can access. There was a link in another post.
