Battery not charging to 100%

Noticed that despite charging it the whole day from solar or overnight from grid, the battery never reaches 100%

The raw batter SOC value is always 97% while on the flow card and on GivEnergy app it shows as 100 %

Any idea what I am missing here? How to get it to 100% everywhere?

deepanshus That's normal.

Battery SoC is a percentage of the actual capacity; inverter SoC is a percentage of the "calibrated capacity".

If the Battery SoC reaches 100% you'll most likely get overvoltage notifications on the portal.

Of course none of that actually means anything unless the SoC is close to being correct, which a lot of the time its not 🙂

On a side note, I noticed it shows 100% but discharging at 42W.

Does your battery ever go to “idle” when “full” ?

One set of mine on one inverter does (been idle all day: (94% primary and 100% secondary). The other set on the other inverter always shows about 40w discharging all day as well (100% primary and 94% secondary) ! Both sets show 100% in the top tier overview.

I started a thread about it “When Idle ?” but didn’t get much response ! Possibly because I added (dual inverters) to the title, so most people will probably skip it, as they don’t have that set-up !

Pete UK that 42w when it’s 100% charged is the power being consumed by the inverter to do all the heavy work of guiding electrons ! It’s always there but just not very obvious

Right, ok. But shouldn’t that power be coming from the 2.5kW of solar? and the battery idling and doing its re-calculating of where it thinks it’s SOC is? And then only staring to discharge when there is no solar or the home demand is above the current solar generation?

It’s just a bit curious, as I get one inverters batteries idling and one doing what yours does and discharging at 40w or so. I’m just thinking that if it never idles, perhaps it never gets to adjust itself up to 100% ? 🤔

Also a few posts I’ve read here, others are saying they idle as soon as they are “full”, then possibly the SOC jumps up a few percent to 100%.

Thoughts?
