Hello all,
I've had my GivEnergy System (Hybrid 5kw Gen 2 with 2 x 9.5KH Batteries) for about 18 months now, but have recently seen notifications on the portal almost daily now for the past couple of weeks saying that there is an BMS Over Voltage error on the system. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Which versions of firmware are inverter/battery running? Have you updated recently? These warnings were introduced after a recent battery firmware update and then go away (hidden ?) by a subsequent inverter firmware update.

It's also important that both batteries run the same firmware revision. Sometimes during an update, one succeeds and the other fails.

The inverter is on D0.915-A0.915 and the battery (can only see one version) is 3015. Is there any way to check the firmware of each battery to confirm that they are both the same?

i guess power down one battery and see if you can still see the other one and then do the same again. It may fool the batteries into updating their firmware

I use GivTCP with Home Assistant and can see that both batteries are on the same version. I wonder if they need to be re calibrated?

I have a Gen 2 Hybrid with a 9.5kWh battery and am getting these daily too. I have discussed with support the possibility of going up to BMS 3017 but they said I need to be in the beta to get that and pointed at me an email address that didn't work, I tried a different one but have had no reply so I guess I'm SOL until they release something public.

Just hope the constant hitting of 57v doesn't knacker my battery prematurely

I had similar recently, and now all the references to BMS over voltage have disappeared in my notifications leaving only 7 others. This is all the BMS O V notes during the past year. What is going on?

Kitkeloo Same here. Its not the first time GE have tried to hide the overvoltage notifications, they tried the same thing back in Jan/Feb.

Kitkeloo Yep, all of mine from the past year have gone too

Me too.

If they were transparent about the changes they make and the reasons behind the changes then that would be a huge improvement. They seem to be floundering a bit with no central strategy.

Yes all my previous BMS over voltage notifications have now "gone".
Last weekend GivEnergy did a remote update to my Gen1 Hy 5.0 and 9.5 battery to 3017 after I had asked about the notifications. I guess the update automatically removes them as part of the code (or conspiracy theory GivEnergy remove them as part of housekeeping!!)

Kitkeloo That's a bit sneaky and shows poor integrity on their part. Hiding the issue just makes it more difficult to diagnose.

All notifications since 14th March have gone for me

hmmm, all of my warnings related to the batteries being over voltage have also been removed. This smells a bit fishy.

Remoting onto systems and changing data sounds like something that the Post Office and Fujitsu would do.

Ash To be fair the notifications probably aren't stored on the inverter - if the conditions that trigger the notification aren't present when the update to the cloud is made then you don't get a notification (I've had higher voltages and no notifications).

Gen2 Hybrid 5.0 9.5kWh with 3015

I was having multiple daily BMS overvoltage notifications during the warmer weather.
All my BMS notifications deleted back to Jan 24.

Can confirm all my over voltage notifications have vanished too - though the "Check conneciton on battery" one is still there. Very odd. I was getting multiple notifications a week, and waiting for the firmware update to the inverter (G1 HY 3.6) that was supposed to fix them.

I was getting at least two over voltage notifications a day. All of them have now disappeared. The last notification now recorded is a BMS under voltage at the end of March. Everything since then is gone.

I screenshotted mine when I first reported them to GE, so I have a record somewhere. I need to log in to see what's there now. Surely this isnt a warranty avoidance attempt? Can't believe they'd do that would they?

BMS Overvoltage notifications seemed to be getting more and more frequent and now they have all disappeared. Six notifications today alone, but after logging in there was no record. Does anyone know why?

If you have 6 notifications in one day you need to be speaking to giv support.

That is a serious issue.

hazelst3 I did find some info which is in a separate post Hybrid Gen 1 battery several over-volt notifications disappear

Did I read somewhere on here that if you leave a little overhead in the battery (i.e. only charge to 90%) then this issue goes away? Whilst it sounds like a workaround to the issue however
