Changing from IOF to Octopus Flux on 1st November

I am currently on IOF and have decided to change over to Octopus Flux (OF) for the winter. The guys at Octopus helped me to sign back up on the octopus website to OF as it looked like I was going to OF for the first time and would have to wait up to 14 days to change.
I then got an email to say I would need do the following to disconnect octopus from modifying my inverter settings.

On the 1st November you'll want to follow the following steps to de-activate the intelligent charging from your batteries:

To disconnect your batteries, please follow these steps on the Octopus App:

Click the profile button in the top left corner of the app’s dashboard.
Select ‘Devices’ and then ‘Intelligent Octopus Flux’
Scroll down and tap ‘Disconnect Battery/Device’ and confirm.
This will disconnect your device and log you out of the app.

Has anyone else done this and needed to do anything else?

I'll be doing it soon. There's also an octopus token you can revoke from the GivEnergy web portal.

I found in th GiveEnery.cloud/account-settings/security under connected services that Octopus have a link that possibly needs removing when I change to OF.

I'm still in the "is it worth the hassle to flip back" stage myself.
I have a fairly high usage pattern with a battery thats only about 50% of what I need. I did consider a second AIO but at the time it wasnt an option and when it was the cash seemed better spent on more panels.
The OF cheap rate is attractive but standard rate is higher than IOF although Peak is better on OF. Export wise IOF is better and has parity with import so when the sun actually does come out I'm better off and the rest of the time I dont have to worry about range anxiety.
Given how problematic it can be to get IOF going again I might just ride it out unless the weather turns biblical for a prolonged period.

It will be good to see over the winter how they compare. I'm hoping to charge overnight and rely on my 2x 9.5Kw batteries during the day (plus any solar input if any). Although only having a 3 hour cheap rate may not fully charge them.

Ortwin obviously usage between users will vary. I have a 5kW battery and charge up in the OF low cost slot. With no solar I need a boost before 1600. A boost to 100% still sees me exhausting the battery by around midnight.

A fully charged 9.5kW battery would probably see me through to midnight at least. As you say, how much charge will you get in 3 hrs; interesting to hear what you get.

I changed from IOF to IOG in September. According to Octoprice it has been the right decision.

Using IOF in Summer & IOG in winter appears to be worth £250 a year to me, so it is worth the hassle.

I cant get IOG or Cosy as I dont have EV or HP so I am stuck with my single AIO which wont see me through the day. I have 14Kw of panels but low sun doesnt favour the 6Kw array at this time of year. I can charge on cheap rate 15p on OF but the any solar over my draw would be sold back at 15p so thats net. Any draw outside cheap is 25p on OF but only 22p on IOF which is the same price for the cheap + normal period. I am sure I might be a bit better off for a couple of months but not sure its going to be massive impact.
I entered into this solar large thinking it was just maths but after seeing GivMaths in action I realise I cant trust any mathematical assumptions or sola predictions so I am on the suck it and see approach. Whatever it costs me it will probably be cheaper than the amount of alcohol I would consume trying to get IOF working again in feb 🙂

Well the change went as planned and I'm now on OF. I plan to charge overnight as much as possible but it will only charge my batteries (2x 9.5Kw) with 10Kw or so over the é hour cheap window which is a shame. I wonder if Predbat control might be the answer but would need an idiots guide with simple step by step guide of what's needed and how to do it.

There’s extensive documentation on setting up Predbat and several threads on here of others that have been through the journey of setting up Predbat and getting it working. You can learn a lot from reading those.

Having just setup Predbat I found the video was pretty much all I needed, with a few visits to the GitHub pages to copy stuff or have a quick look at issues other people had raised when things weren't quite right on my system.

Thanks for the replys, I'll have a look at Predbat when I get chance. Hopefully it will overcome the issue of setting different discharge rates for consumption and export.

I get around 11.5Kw charge from 02:00 to 05:00 cheap rate window which typically gets me from 25% to 66% if I have exported during the peak period.

We have a Gen 2 hybrid inverter with 2x 9.5kW batteries, and are on Octopus Flux. In the 2am-5am charge window, we can charge the batteries by a max of 50%, or 10kWh. This time of year, I Pause the batteries from 05:10-15:50 and run the house off the mains and any sun. This is to ensure we have enough to get through peak rate on the batteries, only exporting if we have more than 60% charge, and then only down to 30%. The rest of the evening we run off the batteries until they go flat, and repeat.
I need more batteries, and them to charge a lot faster!
