Can I utilise mobile hotspot to connect inverter - Fallen tree Internet down

Is there a way to utilise my mobile as an internet hotspot to get talking to my inverter again as I have no control due to a fallen tree taking out my internet cable? Its a gen 1 Hybrid with 16.4kw of battery.

coloneluk yes, I should think so. The inverter doesn't really care how the WiFi connects to the internet.

I guess you would have to turn the mobile hotspot on your phone on, but is is 2.4Ghzh?

Login to the dongle 10,10.100.254 and input the details of your phone wifi hotspot .
See if the dongle connects to your phone.

Does you phone not just connect in local mode and you dont need the inverter connected to GE servers. Sorry if this is wrong. Charge the inverter settings on the phone app in local mode?
Do you need control? The inverter just continue on that last mode it was set to. Eco?

The app won't connect to the inverter if it can't reach the GE portal.

OT but this is why it should be illegal to sell any product in the UK which cannot be controlled locally - ie without any internet connectivity.

Hmm - I suppose this might be awkward - can a mobile provide a wifi hotspot while at the same time connecting to the inverter's wifi AP ? Might need to use two phones temporarily, or a laptop or something to configure the inverter.
Or just configure the credentials for the hotspot, and then hope that the inverter connects when the hotspot becomes available.

DD I had a similar situation prior to using GivTCP and for most people the problem is going to be that the phone will drop the connection to the dongle AP if the dongle has no internet connectivity. This can be fixed on most phones with varying degrees of (manufacturer-induced) annoyances.

The easiest answer is to use a laptop/tablet which doesn't have a SIM to setup the dongle - that way you're not playing whack-a-mole as it flips wifi/LTE networks to find "the internet".....

Yes just make your hotspot have the same SSID and password as your normal home Wifi and it should connect as long as your home Wifi is turned off. I do that with my phone to my wife's phone when we are away from home.

If you have an android device, you could just download this app. Once downloaded no internet required.

I already have that app on my android tablet, but the ip address previously utilised doesn't seem to connect?
I'm not that it savvy. How can i find the correct ip address?
