Dongle update

Hi,
I received a notification on my Givenergy App that I should update my dongle firmware. I have downloaded the Givinstaller app as suggested,however, when trying to follow the instructions for the update I am unable scan the bar code on my dongle as access is blocked by cables (The code being on the inside). I was reluctant to unplug it as I was unsure on the process for doing so.
Can you suggest how I proceed with the update.
