Can I trigger a recalibration?

Our gen 2 hybrid inverter battery doesn't seem to have been working for a few weeks now.

I read someone say you can trigger a recalibration process from the online portal but I can't see where.

Does anyone know if users can do this, or just installers?

It appeared in my portal recently:

I have never tried it.

DBamford Our gen 2 hybrid inverter battery doesn't seem to have been working for a few weeks now.

Maybe it's related to pause mode, activating everyday at 8:00, with no ending time? Try to delete that first, or set to 00:00 both start and end. No need to "pause" battery during normal operation.

By all means, try it, now that you have found relevant setting for it.

nophead thanks - found it!

I've scheduled it for 8 minutes time.

Given that it hasn't responded to any of my commands for some time now I'm not expecting too much, but let's see!

Update: Got an update on the app that it is doing a recalibration, which is promising.

The app live page still says the battery is at 100% and outputting 35W, as it has for the last few weeks.

DBamford that doesn't sound like a miscalibration problem - those are usually related to the capacity of the battery, or sudden jumps in reported SoC.

There's a few inverter settings that could cause this: max overall inverter power, reserve level, discharge limits, pause state, max discharge power, no eco mode, ...
Presumably you've tried a reset to defaults?

A battery can't discharge 35W for a few weeks and stay at 100%, it would be flat without being charged, so something is very wrong. Have you checked all the breakers?

nophead perhaps there's just enough solar to keep it topped up?

#9 nophead

Yes but then it would be charging at some times, not constantly discharging 35W.

35W is about what my inverter uses when it is idle. So perhaps it isn't seeing any house load.

These are interesting and useful replies everyone, thanks.

Yes something is obviously very wrong.

The recalibration has not seemingly happened or made any difference, as predicted.

The inverter (well the Givenergy app) does report the house load and PV, but no longer reports grid in and out.

The battery reports outgoing usually around 50W except when the sun is up.

I'm getting readings on the app but as of 6am this morning it reports 'inverter offline' so I can no longer update the settings (though they didn't make any difference anyway).

DD Thanks for the suggestions.
max overall inverter power: (couldn't see this, except for the charge and discharge)
reserve level : 4%
discharge limits:
pause state: not paused. Start pause 00:00 and end pause 00:00
max discharge power: 100%
no eco mode:

Shouldn't 'Enable DC discharge' be on?

TimHutchings hmm, good spot. you would think so if it means the battery would discharge!

I've tried to change it but not sure it has gone through.

I should say I don't think I've seen this page before today so I doubt I would have changed it myself previously.

I think the setting is for when a GIV Engineer triggers it in a support call its to allow for us to pick when it happens - Other reason I think this is Ive had this set for ages and never had a discharge (we really do need a better name for it).

TimHutchings I think that's the control to allow timed exports.

nophead Your smart post should have been a clue for me.

The battery was just powering the inverter, which was islanded from the grid and running off solar power + battery.

Turned out the solar rcd had tripped and this numpty hadn't noticed.
