Ive just installed an update on my inverter 5.0hy - and it has not connected back to the network for 20 hours+. am I now resigned to having to unscrew my unit and reset the wifi unit?

Another time wasting failure from my unit...

use the portal to synchonise the date and time (in account settings). Then restart the inverter from the portal

JK Maybe doing an update over a bank holiday weekend when there isn’t any GivEnergy support staff wasn’t the best choice. But hindsight, etc.

Not sure the date/time problem is the cause of your issue, you say it’s not connected back to the network.

What update was it, to the wifi dongle firmware, the inverter firmware or the battery firmware?

Is it as simple as just not getting a wifi connection? Try shutting down the inverter and this will force the wifi to reconnect. Also rebooting your wifi router sometimes cures such connection problems.

You should only normally need to reset the wifi dongle if you’ve changed your wifi provider/broadband router. Possibly if you did a dongle firmware upgrade, there were some people here that had problems with that recently

Yes, hindsight is a wonderful thing indeed - however, I don’t see that running an update should require the support of anyone - unless it’s so abjectly unreliable as this system seems to be.

I had run the update as a last ditch effort to overcome another issue of my inverter only drawing 107w from a charged battery for several hours which had resulted in me drawing power from the grid during peak times, again!

I believe it’s the WiFi dongle that updated.
I’ve tried restating my router but no joy.

The suggestions above of rebooting the inverter are great, but without a connection, I don’t think I can!?

Just seen that the update has shown as failed…

“The firmware update running on FD2322G059 has failed. You can start it again on the inverter card”

JK You can reboot the inverter by shutting it down, your installer should have given you instructions, but it’s in the installation guide on the GivEnergy kb and comprises of turning the battery and circuit breakers off in a defined sequence.

On your router do you see your inverter connected? If you have upgraded the dongle firmware or if the inverter is not on the network as shown on the router, follow the wifi setup guide to get it reconnected https://kb.givenergy.cloud/article.php?id=1

Before you start though, if your wifi has both a 5GHz and a 2.4GHz network with the same SSID, turn the 5GHz one off on the router as this can prevent the inverter from connecting first time.
