I should just say our install was only completed on Friday so still early days. Today was the first day of glorious sunshine and at peak, our panels were producing around 2.2kW, however while we were out of the house with no significant load on in the house, our domestic demand on the app was showing almost exactly the same as the energy generated from the panels. This seems to be the same throughout the day, with nighttime draw showing as basically zero even though we are obviously using energy.
I thought it may be a glitch, but today with wall to wall sunshine and minimal load, our battery has dropped from 10% to 4%.
I’m thinking there is an issue with the household load sensor, will obviously be calling OVO tomorrow but was just wondering if anyone has seen this before?

Doveyspicer The app only shows snapshots of data every 5 minutes (that are sent by your inverter to the givenergy portal), so this can give you a false idea of what you are actually consuming - e.g. turn on the kettle and if the snapshot occurs then, then it might look like you are using more than you really are.
And there is some current always consumed by the inverters and battery to keep them working, but its not 2.2kW
I think you should get Ovo back. You would expect some battery charging on a sunny day and the house load doesn’t sound right. It may be that something has been setup wrongly

geoffreycoan thanks for your reply! So the strange thing is in the app, the household usage and the PV generation mirror almost exactly during the day, no matter the lag. Currently I’m sat in a kitchen with the lights on and electric oven on, the app is saying I’m not drawing from the grid, battery or PV.
I’ll give OVO a call tomorrow and let you know the update 👍

It doesn't actually measure consumption. It measures the grid activity, and infers consumption based on import/export and how much it's generating. So if there was an error in measuring grid activity, it would assume all solar generation was being consumed.
Do you still have the IHD for the smart meter, to get a second opinion on grid activity ?

DD I do, and it shows consumption and export as I would expect (we had export today during high PV yield, and high import this evening with high draw appliances). The activity on the IHD and the data on the GivEnergy app are nowhere near aligning.

Doveyspicer I'd be having a look at the CT clamp around the meter tails - that's how the inverter measures grid activity. Perhaps it's not fully latched closed. If you search the forum, there are photos showing what it looks like.

DD thanks, I’ve taken a look the clamp looks to be positioned correctly, locked closed on the live tail from the domestic meter to the first isolator with the arrow facing the isolator. One thing I did notice when doing some digging, the installation guide states the CT cable shouldn’t exceed 5m in length, in my installation it’s 7-8m. Would this cause any issues?

Update: all sorted! Spoke to OVO, who spoke to GivEnergy. Turns out the engineer didnt complete the commissioning fully. Fixed remotely and all is well again!
