I know a lot of the posts on here are negative, so I thought i would give some positive feedback about my GivEnergy system.
I have had my system running for nearly 2 years now.
14 panels, Hy5.0 Gen1 and 9.5 battery. Setup with EPS
I wanted (and was told) 1 would get a Gen2 inverter, but at the post covid time there were non around even after waiting nearly 6 months from placing order until install date. Not a big issue other than the slower charge rate.
Everything still working well. I had an issue with a firmware update after about 6 months and the battery on/off button would not work. Quick call and GivEnergy talked me though the USB install and battery reboot and on/off button now works perfectly.
No issues with the quality of kit and operation other than lack of import/export slots to let me set the system how I want, but Home Assistant and Predbat have been great for last 12 months.
EPS works brilliant and in the snow at end of Jan, we sat in the lounge with the lights on, TV/Sky on, gas central heating on and internet on (i wired an EPS consumer unit), whilst 200 houses in the village were dark.
I want to add another 9.5 battery. The engineer in me knows it is the right thing to do as energy prices will only go up, but the bean counter says (8-10 years payback) would be better spent on the grown up kids who are looking at house purchases.

Yeah I have to admit it was kind of nice when we had a day without mains power a few months back and we didn’t even notice because of the battery.

Similar to @SteveCook, my experience to date with an AC coupled 8.2kwh system installed in 2020 and a second battery added in 2022 has been good. On the couple of occasions assistance was required, the support team sorted the problem quickly. My home grown automation that sets how much to charge overnight has been running well since 2020. Will have to take a look at predbat with its ton of features and continued development

I concur with the above. 3.6 Gen 1 and 5.2 battery two years ago. My supplier [Green Energy Networks] and GivEnergy have been supportive and with a few calibrations and software updates have got us there. For me the EPS was essential and I have said elsewhere, we had immediate benefit with two multi-hour winter power outages in our first month.
My wish [from GivEnergy] is for some current information on the support pages for issues such as which software to use to update WiFi, and a brief status on what software releases are being worked on, when that might appear to mere mortals, and what benefits we may look forward to. I suggest this would reduce the negative commentary and give people clearer guidance to manage (update) their systems.

I’ll add as well, I’m an advanced user with home assistant with an AIO and the car charger. To me, it works very well. In the beginning I did notice SOC jumps and drops but the updates since have made things a lot better. Appreciate the team putting those updates out.

I don’t sweat the small stuff. On the whole, I’m getting the power I need and I can forget about it while it does its job and it comes in real handy when there’s a power cut. I only use home assistant to create dynamic charge/discharge schedules to maximise export.

Very happy with the setup, keep up the good work GivEnergy team.

Patrick thanks Patrick.
We have a healthy beta army. Which allows field testing once lab testing is done.

I’m also happy with my system. It was a big investment (2x gen3 5.0 hybrid inverters and 4x 9.5kWh batteries and 27 panels). It’s chugging away on IOG and saving me money. I’m really pleased I went with a higher output system which means I don’t have to worry about load management or load shifting. I’ve got a slightly negative electricity bill and that includes doing 14,000 miles a year in our EV. Obviously in forums you aren’t going to hear many positive comments, only negative ones.
Thanks GE and keep up the hard work. 👏

If you need anyone to beta test the EMS on dual hybrid 5.0 inverters, sign me up 🙋🏻‍♂️

Because of recent storm warnings, I set my battery reserve to 40% just in case , but my battery would run down after off peak overnight charge to 40% by about 14:00. It would then stay at 40% (all good) until about 16:30 and then would start powering the house again, draining itself to 4% before before off peak charge kicked in.
Deleted all external APIs, reset all inverter settings (numerous times) etc etc. No change
Posted on the GivEnergy beta forum and in 2 hours the Dragon had read it and and remotely loaded new firmware that fixed it. Big up to the Dragon

Second winter with an AIO and Gateway and despite some early connectivity problems (trailing ethernet lead!), once sorted, the system has performed flawlessly - just as tech should - it just works.
The ethernet problem was sorted through this forum rather than Givenergy Helpdesk - many thanks to all who contributed.
The kit seems to be well made and reliable.
If an AIO tester is required I'd be happy to help out.
I've tried HA integration but it's defeated my programming skills and since the 6 hours of IOG is sufficient to fully charge the AIO and run the house all day (almost!) on cheap rate power - best to keep things simple.
Toying with adding a second AIO but not sure the software is there yet.
Overall very happy with the setup and hardware.
