Rob, Geoffrey - I saw via email your replies last evening but when I clicked on them this morning I just get bad gateway - have the threads gone for you too?

I also notice that I'm now back as Nil Desperadum rather than Ian_Reid - all very odd.
(When my installer recommissioned for the solar there was same debate about the system number ... I wonder if I and my kit somehow have two profiles and that is screwing things up??

Geoffrey - I tried the reinstall - it only asked for permission for notifications - no change

Rob, thanks - look forward to sharing experiences. I'm pretty good on the theory, now getting some of the practical experience!

Nil Desperandum Hi Ian, yes I’m getting an error 502 bad gateway on the beta community forum as well. Must be something broken, hopefully will be spotted and fixed by Givenergy soon

r/e the lack of local mode on your app, am struggling to work out what could be causing it. Are you able to try with a different phone/tablet ? I know that you have to have permissions to connect to the local network on the iphone for it to work, and as I said before it uses the saved IP address and be on the same network SSID, but we’ve tried all those!

Edit: I think I saw on another post that you have a 3 phase hybrid inverter. This may well be the source of your problem, that local mode just doesn’t work for the 3 phase? There’s certainly other things that 3 phase users have reported don’t work (yet)

it would be worth starting a new discussion on this forum aimed at 3 phase users.
Geoffrey and I both have 1 phase systems and don't have direct experience of how a 3 phase works with GE monitoring via portal and app. There is a greater pool of users on this forum, certainly with some having 3 phase systems.

On another front and out of interest, what size heat pump are you getting installed and what model is it?

Heat Pump: Vaillant Arotherm plus 12kw... I think 10kw version would have been fine

Yes! All very confusing.
There are lots of folk on this forum. Do try to reach out to 3 phase users .....

About a month ago, 4 of us were invited over to the 'beta' forum also and we have been mopping up outstanding issues that had sometimes been left unanswered for some time. You will probably have met us all. Only Geoffrey changed his name.

Well, turns out my system serial number had been entered incorrectly at the factory perhaps, but that has now been fixed I'm told. And it didn't fix any of my problems.

I've asked the GE team whether or not the 'Home' side of my GE App will work with 3ph and I'm waiting for a reply.

Thanks for the link to that Aerotherm data ... I've taken a quick look and will get to it in more detail later. I did notice however that you said "As temperature increases, efficiency increases." That's surely not correct!?
My heat loss measurement was 10.7kw. I have a guarantee of 440% at 40C flow (for 21C internal). We will be at more like 18/19 internal and I expect 35C flow (or lower if we can!) So I'm hoping for close to 450-500%. But that's all theory, I'm looking forward to the practice 😃

I love the idea of a 3ph thread. When I get a mo I'll investigate that

Nil Desperandum My heat loss measurement was 10.7kw. I have a guarantee of 440% at 40C flow (for 21C internal).

This looks good and you can see the difference in estimated COP between having a flow temperature of 40C and 55C

My heat loss measurement was 830kW. I have a 10 kW heat pump.
My installer worked on a flow temperature of 40C running at 20C with 17C setback overnight.
Since then, my installer added underfloor rocksil insulation and my flow temperature reaches just 35C on the coldest days. It is usually lower. I have all the Open Energy Monitor kit which closely monitors everything. My system is controlled via weather compensation from an outdoor temperature sensor.

Heat Pump: Vaillant Arotherm plus 12kw. I think 10kw version would have been fine

You might have managed with 10kW. Vaillant HPs seem to punch a little above their weight.
I think that the grant is available if the HP exceeds heat loss and this may have been the reason for 12 kW.

Well done of getting a heat pump. With the drip-feeding of heat energy, rather than bursts, It is a very different experience from a gas boiler. My house is far more comfortable.

Never understood why so many people only use basic controls for gas heating systems. I have used a Danfoss TP7000 for years, set to chrono-proportional mode at 6 cycles per hour.

Has confused several plumbers!

Nil Desperandum You can post on here or the other beta community forum above.

I believe the beta community forum has been in beta status for absolutely ages, over a year, and there’s been no plans announced to move permanently to it. There would be the question about what to do with all the useful content saved in this forum.

So both forums exist in parallel. This one is more popular by far. The other one doesn’t have the posting images issue

geoffreycoan I thought that the beta community forum was a forum for beta testers only. To trial and give feedback on GivEnergy equipment and software. I seem to remember reading that you have to have an invitation to join and you have to agree to a Non Disclosure Agreement. Is this not so?

The beta testing section of the beta forum is by GE invitation only (and requires agreeing to an NDA).
