This has been the coldest morning we have had since I had my 8.2kwh battery fitted on the 10th November: -2c outside battery temp at 9C. The battery is outside on the house wall.
Since I got it fitted I usually use about 20% overnight. This morning it has used 33% and is at 67% as we speak with no noticeable gain in power usage from the house.
It can only be the cold impacting it. I am having a lean to fitted around it all tomorrow we'll see how that goes.
My installation is external as well but I was not expecting this kind of loss? Checking my data I do not beleive I have had the same drop as you. I have built like a bin shed/cover around mine as mine is on the front of my house I didn't want anyone to walk up and hang the wifi dongle out etc. I will keep an eye on my data though. Dropped to 2c last night and 10c on the battery

It will have an impact, it's a chemical storage battery after all and they don't like high or low temps to run optimally.
I'm worried about high temps in summer with my loft install - hoping the PV now covering the south side of the roof will help keep the temps down and if not I'm sticking some PIR insulation between the joists instead.
I think the inverter starts clipping when it gets too hot (as will all inverters) so potential loss of generation.

Salibaba There is also a great 12v solution but I'm not sure it will work on this system. 240v also available with waterproof reptilian heat pads.
I have one fitted in my campervan and it works a treat when i am away skiing.
But down to -10c should be good when it is enclosed with the residual heat from the rectifier and what seeps out of the walls (insulated or not).
THALL Last night temperature down to 4c, battery lowest at 11c. 20% drop on same usage.

yandards Which inverter do you have? I have the AC3 installed outside on a North facing wall and while temps outside were over 10c I would see temps of nearly 55c from it. Last night with a minus 1 outside it still hit 45.1C. Id be scared to put that in a loft after seeing my outside temps.
THALL running the HY5.0 inverter, pealed at 35 Deg C inverter temp last night during the usual overnight battery charge. It's mounted on the West wall so does get some wall heating in the afternoon in summer.
Saw some 45 degree temps late Sep on good sunny days post the system installation when under high inverter load.
Don't think the roof ambient temps are going to be too detrimental but I do have the option of adding more insulation to manage the temp up there a bit better. I think I've read something about inverter clipping at certain temps - think it's on the data plate on the side. It's good for up to 55 Deg C ambient and my roof doesn't get that hot.

THALL ALL THAT LOVELY HEAT GOING TO WASTE!!, I'd put that in my fireplace hearth in the livingroom, make a feature of it like Sonnen and Tesla want. Most ASHP want to low temp flow around that sort. I could save the cost of a radiator. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Salibaba So last nights cold temps with loads of hail was interesting. I joined octopus go fast 2130 as the 0330 was no longer available.... so last night cheap power for 5 hours, but just got up to find only 28% battery left so 20% available. Something in my home was drawing 800w from 0050 to 0510. So the battery never went under 12c and the inverter not under 20c. I am wondering if my ASHP kept itself above freezing? Needs investigating!!
